Why by the hour and not figure by square footage/job?

why do you think

Is your $50 per hour [USA] - I am in the UK - for your all-in Main Painting Contractor's rate including all materials [other than the actual paint] overheads and profit - and if so and you gave the contract to a subcontractor - what would you calculate as his rate. The labour was I think $900 and the paint maybe $250 or more = $1150 - do you specifically ad a profit margin to the PANIT - or do your include a similar amount INTO your mark-up or margin

I wouldn't do fuzzy math with materials, he already said do fuzzy math with the hourly, and really don't do fuzzy math at all just be honest with them, this guy in the video is older and knows what he's doing:::: most people I ever talked to would laugh in someones face if they said 50/hr, its much easier to bid by the unit, if you bid low get ready to paint 10 in a row quick to make ur money, like 5 a week fast, but he is right, you bid a little higher and do a bit better job and you can make it easier on urself, cuz quality takes a little longer.

Thank you for step by step ! on my last job.. The boss had me set each cover plate screw exactly horizontal! Photo every step to track time. Please explain time management . 4 hrs to paint .. 2 hrs between coats.. I would try 1 heavy coat kilz ceiling at night.. then thoroughly wash the walls and try one coat . Apt won't pay your time .. has to be volume & Quality!
@nonymousjones72042 жыл бұрын
?? you wash walls? Guarantee 2 coats, and make sure it looks like 2 coats. Dont' waste time washing walls, and the way paint changes these days, you might as well settle in forgetting abt touch up and go, not two hrs between coats, just until its almost dry, and kilz a ceiling is crazy expensive, the apts i worked for would laugh you out of there if you put kilz on a ceiling, these apts shouldn't take you more than 8 hrs total including dry times between coats, spray the ceilings with a rig if you wanna get through the popcorn ceilings faster

A painter I know can blow through 3 a day if they are clean and the paint matches---- he can color change a full 2 bedroom apt remodel in 2 days no lie. That's an apt painter, that's where the bar is set :::: hes in his 50's
@nonymousjones72042 жыл бұрын
if you can get that speed, you still charge them for regular slow painter prices tho, you bid the stuff by the unit, they push hourly yea you tell them 50/hr to get them to reconsider, but a standard 1 br is like 675 max, you can sub it out for half that: ::::: most apt painters make 350 a unit or less - I just want this info out there cuz it's how the game is played, and these apts are crazy anti painter sometimes, and if someone goes in there saying 50/hr ur gonna waste a bunch of time unless you really know what your doing like this guy in the video, cuz they get uppity at 25/hr, much less 50.
