Nice one Paul. When I’m changing the fluid I use a syringe to empty the reservoir and then add fresh brake fluid before I start the bleeding process, it just saves a few squeeze, undo, tighten, release stages. I’m guessing yours isn’t an ABS model, I think that adds to the complication.

Hi Tony. No mines not ABS or duel linked braking. To be honest, I never even gave it a though for taking the fluid out before I started - that is a good tip - thank you

Nice one! about to do my two bikes. They must be tougher on MOT there in the UK than here in Australia! The last thing I would expect my man to do is look at brake fluid. Don't think I have ever even started either bike! He just checks the engine numbers etc match the paperwork! Did enjoy the vid though you made look so easy! Given me the confidence to have a go!

Our MOT tests are quite thorough with almost every element of the bike being checked - even the headlamp bulbs are checked. Thank you very much for the view, especially as you are on the opposite side of the world to me

paul,you have changed the fluid in the reservoir but you still have old fluid in the lines and callipers.i would have continued bleeding after you refilled the reservoir to work the new fluid right through the lines and calipers, this will exstend life of seals and pistons.

I did just that - it was a bit tough fitting all the stages into the short video. When you watch back I make reference to the fact that I bleed the system until I get continuous clear (new) fluid through at the caliper ens. Thanks for he view and the comment too

You saved me from buying semi-expensive bleed kits. Gorgeous R1. How do you take the riding position so well? I have 4" Apex risers on my R1. I'm 61, going on 25. Great video.

What’s the name of the part that holds the forks and the calipers screw into?

Not too, sure to be fair - I think its a 6mm ID

Yes, there's on on each claiper
