Hey guys, in this video we show you how to bleed the cooling system on Mazda CX-7. We demonstrated on a 2009 Mazda CX-7 with the 2.3 turbo engine. In order to bleed the cooling system right, you will need to keep the car at around 4500 rpms for a long time so make sure that you have fresh oil and the car is warmed up otherwise you might say bye bye to your turbo or engine.

The cx-7 manual states 5,000rpm for 1min, idle for 5 s, then repeat several times. It does not state 5,000rpm for 5 min straight like he says in the video.

According to manual: 1. Remove the cooling system cap. 2. Remove the radiator drain plug and drain the engine coolant into a container. 3. Flush the cooling system with water until all traces of color are gone. 4. Let the system drain completely. 5. Tighten the radiator drain plug with a new gasket. Tightening torque 1.5- 2.4 N·m {15- 25 kgf·cm, 13- 21 in·lbf} 6. Referring to the following chart, select the correct volume percentage of the water and engine coolant. 7. Refill the engine coolant from the radiator filler neck until it is close to the top of the radiator filler neck. 8. Refill the engine coolant into the coolant reserve tank up to the FULL mark on the tank. 9. Install the cooling system cap. 10. Start the engine and warm up the engine by idling. 11. After the engine warms up, perform the following steps. At this time, be careful of the engine coolant temperature to prevent overheating. Note • If the accelerator pedal is depressed continuously for a specified time, the engine speed may decrease to the idle speed. This is due to the fuel cut control operation, which prevents overheating, and it does not indicate a malfunction. (1) Run the engine at approx. 5,000 rpm for 1 min. (2) Run the engine at idle for 5 s. (3) Repeat steps (1), (2) several times. (4) Operate the heater at the maximum temperature and airflow, and verify that hot air blows from vent. 12. Stop the engine, and inspect the engine coolant level after the engine coolant temperature decreases. If it is low, repeat steps 7- 11. 13. Inspect for engine coolant leakage.

Great video. I was watching videos on you tube about how to fix a common oil leak for Mazda CX7 and I change the circular rubber part. when I took off the hose I think the coolant fluid came out. I put new motor oil, oil filter and put more coolant fluid. I did a test drive and now my Mazda temperature going hot. what I did wrong? maybe I damage another part or is because I have to bleeding the cooling system?

It sounds like you're mixing apples with oranges. Keep it one thing at a time. What are you talking about? Did you pour coolant into engine through the oil cap or what? Of course coolant will come out if you pull out the hose for crying out loud.

Great video! I have a 2008 Mazda CX-7, it overheated and busted a long crack across the top of the radiator, and now it won't start. I assumed it was a blown head gasket, which brought me to your video. Trying to get it to start, but it just whines, not your normal engine turning over sound; kind of like a small electric motor spinning, but no start. I pulled the coils and plugs and they all look good except the #4, burnt dried oil looking, no smell. I can upload a video of the actual sound while attempting to start and a photo of the actual plugs too. PLEASE HELP !!!!! R/ Mitch
