Great video, using the motive bleeder tomorrow for the first time!

Doesn't it says on the brake reservoir cap to use DOT3 brake fluid? Is it ok to mix them?
@TheUnicornblood Жыл бұрын
Well technically you’re not mixing them as you’re completely replacing them. But yes, them mixing is no issue. You’ll end up with like 95% new and 5% old prob

Have you found any success in finding an adapter for the clutch reservoir

Great vid AK. Question though. Do you have to use Hanes for a drop cloth or will any brand of grundies do? :b
@TheUnicornblood11 жыл бұрын
hahaha .. i actually didn't realize until I posted the video that I used hanes. I have a basket of clothes for "dirty work". I simply grabbed what was there.

Hi,Great vid a clear illustrations on the site,I have a 2 questions for you please ,(Question 1) ,the pump bottle you use to bleed the brakes, it has a rubber or plastistic ring conseald in the black tube that sucks air in to the bottle,did you say you coat it in a synthetic greese to lubricate it,(Question 2) and also would you submerge the same pump handle tube into the brake fluid or do you keep the handle tube that sucks air into the bottle out of the brake fluid at all times.
@TheUnicornblood9 жыл бұрын
wow dude Glad to help man. answer 1: initially, no service needed. I'm actually coming up on year 3 on my unit and I only serviced it once (it was flooded during sandy. so I took apart and serviced it). Yes if you feel that pump is feeling tight or it's just not feeling well, yes you do use synthetic grease to grease the INNER part of the tube. You'll see when you twist it open. The inner wall has a thin synthetic grease in it. Answer 2: when I pour 3 bottles of fluid, bottle is half full. The bottom part of the tube def gets summerged in brake fluid. don't worry :). I think there's a open bleeder valve on top that gets in air for pumping. GOod luck man. Hope everything goes well for you. I use Motul RBF600 and love it.

another quick question, did you disconnect the battery?
@TheUnicornblood8 жыл бұрын
Nope. Not needed. Someone else also asked the same question below a while ago.

How do you clean the equipment after being done?
@TheUnicornblood7 жыл бұрын
Arioch you use denatured alcohol (easily can be found Homedepot/Lowes/Walmart). At least that's what I use to clean the white container (what Motive recommends). However, I have found the alcohol makes the piping cloudy. For pipes, I don't really use anything. I let the connecter dangle from a top hook or area so the piping gets all fluid drained (leave for maybe 24-48 hours) in to the bottle. Once all fluid drained in the bottle, clean the bottle with tissue paper and denatured alcohol. Note that, if you use tinted brake fluid such as ATI blue, you DO have to clean the piping also with denatured alcohol or you may risk tinting the white clear tubes. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any more questions.

TheUnicornblood Thank my friend. I appreciate the help. Gonna try this product for the 1st time over the weekend or once I receive the small bottles to drain fluid into it. Can't wait. I tried the pump handle ones and its really messy. Stay safe at the tracks and in the streets, its a war zone now a days. Stay up brother. Again thank you for the video & the help.

The catch bottle should be hung below the level of the bleeder screw, for easier flow. You are pumping up hill

Thanks for the vid man, I think for our cars the bleeding sequence is passenger rear, driver front, driver rear then lastly passenger front.
@TheUnicornblood8 жыл бұрын
I was always told to do the furthest from master cylinder which is RR. Then 2nd furthest is LR. then FR and then of course FL. Also you have to keep in mind the line length. RR I do a full bottle bleed as line longest. Then 3/4 bottle for LR. 1/2 bottle for FR and 1/2 for FL. This is the bottle that dirty fluid goes to in video. But if service manual asks diff sequence, you're welcome to try. I never had issues at the track or Autox. Just remember to keep in mind the brake line length and bleed accordingly.

Is Project Mu G-four 335 compatible with 370z brake system?
@TheUnicornblood10 жыл бұрын
i do not know. Is it dot 4? dot 3 and dot 4 are interchangeable. But not dot 5. What car is the fluid going in? Just stick with Motul or SRF dot 4 for all track/racing etc.
@TheUnicornblood10 жыл бұрын
I mean, why go through all that when you can get Dot 4 and call it a day? Dot 4 works fantastic even in rigorous track hot lapping. Dot 4 fluids such as Motul, Castrol Srf etc are used by racing team all over the world. However, if you wanna go dot 5, it's totally up to you. I have never used it hence I can't tell you anything about dot 5. Thanks

Did you have to disconnect battery?
@TheUnicornblood10 жыл бұрын
no I did not
@a_double_10 жыл бұрын
TheUnicornblood Thanks for the reply. My G factory manual stated this as a precaution, hence the question.
@TheUnicornblood10 жыл бұрын
interesting. I don't know why. I just did this again two weeks ago and today went to autox. Everything is perfect. no batt disconnect.
@a_double_10 жыл бұрын
TheUnicornblood Probably cause the manual specifies the brake pedal method for pressurizing the system.

How long did it take you to put the adapter onto the reservoir in your first go? I am having a hard time getting it on.....urgh!!! Thought I bought the wrong one, but called Motive and they said part # 1117 is the right one.BTW, didn't realize you have converted and drive a C5 now. ^^
@TheUnicornblood8 жыл бұрын
+GT R dude it's the biggest pain in the butt adapter! patience is your friend. here's how I thought is the best way. step 1: check the reservoir bottle notch and motive cap notch. Line up gap to notch perfectly. step 2: PUSH straight down HARD. push push push. make sure motive cap is all the way down. Don't be afraid. step 3: THEN you turn the cap. if it's not turning, that means you didn't push down enough. I clearly remember this bc I just did this 3 weeks ago. I still have the Z but it's a back up car now. Can't decide if I wanna keep it as backup car or make it track car.
@TheUnicornblood8 жыл бұрын
+GT R I just realized you're the Gary guy driving GTR from North! I'll be at 4/24 nnjr event. if you wanna bring your motive, I can show you. Wait so GTR and 370Z has same master reservoir? wth! lol yeah I bought vette in Nov. Only done two events so far. I suck driving it :(
@garytsuikk8 жыл бұрын
+TheUnicornblood Thanks! I will try again. I just spent 15-20 mins today making sure the taps line up at the gap, and it would turn but just wouldn‘t lock. I guess I didn‘t push the adapter down enough and it was sitting on top of the taps at the reservoir. I am a bit afraid to push down too hard and break the MS.
@garytsuikk8 жыл бұрын
+TheUnicornblood lol...I hope by 4/24, I would have figured out how to get that thing on. Why surprise the GTR share same resevoir with the Z, they are both Nissan. I am sure there are many parts that get shared...not coming to PCA on Sunday?
@TheUnicornblood8 жыл бұрын
+GT R I think you'll feel resistance as you push down and then click feeling at the cap goes all the way down. Yeah I know. I was nervous about MS too. Though MS is bolted down pretty good, you can hold the MS bottle with one hand as you pressure with another if you want.

Brake system can be flushed with this method as well right? Only difference is volume of fluid pushed through system. Concur? Thank you.

The Hanes underwear! (😂) No, seriously... Why didn’t you use a funnel to fill Motul brake fluid into the reservoir? I think (With the funnel) the procedure would had been much straight-forward. Plus, maintain the Motive Power Bleeder gadget clean & intact. Thanks for the video!
