With Axalta and 1 1/2 coats your able to blend in a very tight area. The system is the easiest to blend bye far….just saying. Sand-piling creates mottlle, and it can be tough to deal with times . With a true waterborne, there is no over spray or sand-piling. For example- because its a wet on wet process you could spray a black complete then tack with a new tack rag before clear and there won’t be any sign of black on the tack rag cause any overspray lands into the wet film and is absorbed. It ends up being silky smooth before clear. It was good that you eliminates to many blend area buy spraying to the top and bottom of the door. We should never attempt to blend in a circle if we can help it.

You should make a video for diyers showing how to make multiple sprayout cards to aide in blending.. ie most diyers don't have access to tinting bank and adjusting there paint they purchased...ie the variant they choose was the best option but is still off .ie to dark. Please show how multiple spray out cards with multiple coats of basecoat clear blender .. Can help adjust colour matching along with spraying psi which can light or darken a colour. Along with blending tips during painting. The goal is to lighten a basecoat varriant using a base cost blender etc, along with blending techniques and drop coats etc.

Question: Do you need to scotchbrite or buff the entire panels original clearcoat before laying down the final clearcoat on top of the repair? OR is it possible to lay down an epoxy primer patch, then patch with the base color, then just put the final clearcoat over the entire panel without scuffing the whole area for adhesion of the final clearcoat?

I've got a color that matches spot on, but a sanded through spot near the front of the door. I can just paint the entire door. But I have a second place sanded through and discolored that needs to be resprayed on the quarter behind this door. I can spray the base to lightly bring the color back to normal. But how do I get the clear coat to blend with the existing clear? Do I use a chemical within the clear? If I clear the entire area I would have to paint half the car due to it being a fast back mustang. I want to blend the paint, and then blend the clear. Or does clear need to be blended? If I over lap other clear won't it sand down with 1500, then 3000, then would it leave a line or area that does not clean up and buff or polish properly?
@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS

Wherever you will base. That panel needs to be cleared. That is the right way to do it for it to last
@MrCbell57
@MrCbell57 3 жыл бұрын
@@MOTIVATEDPAINTERS Yes I know to clear over any base. If you spray base over an area the size of a door latch. Do you need to clear the entire door? Or if you have that same area on the quarter panel...do you need to clear the entire back half of car, top, both quarters, tail panel and so on? Or can you blend the clear? So, Okay the base will go on about 6 square inches of the quarter. The same for the door area. I don't mind clearing the entire door again. But having to clear half the car to repair a small area I reshoot on quarter panel, that needs two light coats of base and is a 6 inch square area seems crazy Especially since I see you actually doing it on a small area yourself. What your doing is what I want to be able to do. Not clear the biggest part of the car for a little base touch up area. If I shoot clear over clear, will it show Dull areas where I stop? Or will sanding it and buffing it make it look fine? Yes I know it needs to be cleared. Maybe I can send you a pic of it. Are you on facebook? Thank you.
