+JamilaMillie Yea, I think the secret here is that he is not trying to impress anyone, just teaching..it's not about "him" it's about the subject. Mr. Greenwood is very good at what he does. (no I don't know the man, I'm from the States!)

This is #2 in my series of short, sharp youtube lessons on some photography fundamentals. This clip looks at how to create that lovely blurred background in portrait shots. It’s really aimed at DSLR users, although those viewers with point-and-shoots (especially those who know how to twiddle the manual controls) should get something out of it too.

@berkansahin37659 жыл бұрын
Easiest way to make blur: Zoom in as much as you can and stay as close as you can to the object where you can still focus and take the shot! It will be awesome but narrow

Hi, enjoyed the video. I'm using a Canon t5i, would I be correct to assume I could use the "P" settings and manually adjust the aperture to achieve these same results? I just have the standard kit len 18mm-135mm.
@SydneyPortraitsLilyfield8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. No, you'd need to be in AV or M setting to change the aperture.

Hi Tom. Thanks for this tip. It does help a lot. I am quiet new to photography so need all the tips i can get. I have a Nikon D3200. I am still using the AUTO function and need to move on to using all the other functions. What i can not get right with my camera is to focus on the subject AND the background, thus getting a fully focused picture. All the pics I take are focused on the subject with a slight background blur.

Wow! 5 Star explanation. Or 6 star! Good example great pictures. Really impressed. Thanks alot. Only didnt quite understand the last example you mentioned you had an aperature of 11 first then 2.5. And the 2.5 was more blurrred. I thought it was wider aperture = more blur or is that ok with longer lens and further away background. Thanks alot.
