Get off the plane, head straight to baggage pick up, And if you're coming into a foreign country then head to immigration check up, and I think you should be good to go.

If you wanna board earlier, always go to the gate early even before it allows entry. You never know there could be extra checks.

yes, so you have enough time to check in, go through security, immigration and find your gate. If you are early you can also get food to eat or buy things from the airport shops before boarding your plane.
