One should never immediately put egg from boiling water into cool water. If you allow it get cool naturally the taste will be nice & no problem in peeling the outer layer.

Just a scientific point i would like to add... Every egg has a air pocket inside of it. If you directly put an egg in the boiling water, the air inside the egg will expand very quickly resulting in the crack on the egg. Note: If u r putting an egg directly in the boiling water, it should be super fresh because then it will have the smallest air pocket. Size of air pocket increases when the egg ages.

Yes my observation is same, if we directly put egg in boling water then it cracks if not fresh, so better to put it in normal water and start heating with slow flame, internal gasses release through small pores in shell slowly and egg doesn't break even if it is not fresh.
