I just rescued a bunny on Monday. She's about a year old and was spade a month before I got her. When I brought her home she instantly took a liking to my yorkie (I knew the yorkie liked bunnies prior to getting one). I'm extremely happy that my dog can go into her pen and just hang out and the bunny doesn't mind her being in there. Today she even binkied around my dog and my dog was like freaking out trying to figure out what was going on lol. Just thought I'd share this :)

Although she mentions it in the video it is VERY IMPORTANT to always have a towel, or clipboard at all stages of the bonding process. never go into a bonding session without something to physically seperate the bunnies unless you like having bloody arms. I was wondering cuz I haven't seen this address yet. But if you're bringing a new bunny in the house, should you bond with that bunny first and then the two bunnies? The bunny we brought home is very freaked out and I'm not sure if that's going to make it harder or not? So I was trying to figure out if we should get her used to us and then introduce her to the bun that we already have or just do a trial by fire?

I'm planning on getting a new bunny to bond with my single male, his brother passed away a few months ago after being separated because of fighting (the one who passed away suddenly started attacking Peter and not allowing him to eat to a dangerous level, so I had to separate for Peter's safety and health). Now that he has been alone for a few months and is back to full health and a healthy weight I think it would be better to give him some new company before I'm in college and I'm home less often than now. this video has been a huge help to me as it is my first time trying to bond two rabbits together

I have two rabbits, and they were not from the same litter, but lived with each other when we adopted them both. Male and female, so we had to separate them once they could mate, and until they got spayed and neutered, then when they healed, we put them together again. We don’t have a cage, just a pen, and when they want out, we lift the pen up so they can go out, but sometimes I carry them out for a little pet pat, and they run around to exercise. They bonded fairly easily, so I think it just has to do with personality of rabbit. Sometimes they go together quickly, sometimes not. :>

We adopted a female spayed bunny today as a friend for our male neutered bunny. They are currently in separate spaces. When I put them together very briefly, the first thing that happened was the male chasing her to mount her. She wasn't fond of this. There was a lot of thumping. I ended the session fast because I was concerned for her. She is actually still healing from her spay surgery. I assume it would be better if we waited a little longer for her to be more healed first? I was too helicopter mom during that... lol

@Mel-td6yf7 жыл бұрын
You can't really guarantee how long it will take to bond a rabbit. Mines took over a year to bond so I would actually spend the money and buy a cage. Also, you may want to be careful about setting up a cage in your original bunnies territory. Usually you should have a seperate room to bond them in and you should never have only one cage between the two bunnies. my bunnies used to fight through the cage which is why having two cages in a different room would be ideal

My male is neutered but my female is not spayed. I worry she may be too old to risk the surgery? She's also a bit bigger than my boy even though they are the same breed. Are either of these factors going to cause too big of problems during bonding?
@leahmejia91417 жыл бұрын
Slinky Kat It is possible that the bond might work but, it is best that your rabbit is spayed because problems will be involved that your unspayed rabbit will be territorial and aggressive towards your rabbit and it may cause injuries. I hope everything works well though :)
@Mel-td6yf7 жыл бұрын
How old is she? i suggest talking to a vet about risk factors. How much bigger is she. if a rabbit is too big in comparison to the other this may result is worse injuries if they do get into a fight. With the information you have provided I would suggest you have her fixed. even if the bonding does go smoothly without having her fixed, the other side effects are not worth it. She may decide that she is ready for a litter and may become aggressive and start making a nest or she may get sick from cancer. Again, please consult an experience exotic animal vet.

Hi I was wondering is there a time when it's too late for bunnies to be fixed? My bunnies are both girls and 3 years old. I was also wondering if I can bond them since they are sisters and both girls? They have been fighting latey

My mom got me two bunnies and I'm trying to do my research and do what is best for them. I put them together in my room with close supervision and they were basically exploring and turning their backs on one another, and occasionally sniffing one another curiously. One was even binkying! They got pretty close and they were fine with the other sticking their face into their fur before they started chasing one another and I put them back in their respective cages. My parents aren't too keen on spending the money for getting them spayed. Do you think it's necessary for these two?

My rabbits who are three and two years old, no matter what or where I place them, the younger mounts, bites and plucks the older one. Neither are neutered or spayed, it is something I'm debating currently, as I've heard they may not survive the surgery. If anyone has any advice it would help a lot.

I have been trying to bond my 2 rabbits for 4 months and they will not stop biting each other. one of my rabbits is full grown and the other is almost full grown. the larger one has bitten the other one to points where he is bleeding and I don't know what to do with them any advise?

So, is mounting on a female a domination sign if your female rabbit is not spayed and is humping your foot? I have this happen with my rabbit and sometimes she nips me, but not always.

My 2 female Netherlands were spayed, the day after the spay one of them starting to chew the other rabbit's wound so we seperated them and had them in joining cages, just so she wouldn't try to open the wound of the other one. We'd have the out and about running around all fine but one day one rabbit jumped into the other rabbits cage and they had a fight. Since then we have had issues. We have essentially been re bonding them and for the past couple of weeks it has gone okay (the early days they kept having fights when out together)- just taking it slow now. But a few times one rabbit has jumped in the other's cage and a fight has happened again. There is part of me which is feeling like we are not going to be able to get them back to being friends that live together again.

What if they're outdoor bunnies? I've been having bonding sessions in the bathroom, I tried to move it to the run but it didn't work out so I've gone back to bonding sessions in the bathroom. I was wondering how I would move the sessions outside then be able to leave them at night to cement it? As I'm not going to sleep outside with them ha!

Thanks for this helpful video! We are in the pre-bonding period. Do you think I have to remove the territorial poop? (my 1st bunny lives free, and the new one in a crate)

I have a quick question, I'm currently bonding my bunnies and my male rabbit mounts my female rabbits head only, he's never mounted in the spot he's supposed to. I'm just a little worried, is mounting absolutely necessary?
@sydney84198 жыл бұрын
Sarah Hollis oh yes of course I did, but I just wonder if mounting is necessary at all

Hi there. I was wondering if you could help us. We have 3 rabbits, after they bonded they've been living together in relative peace for 2 years. However, a couple of days ago there was a brawl, possibly becauce on of the buns got sick and was weaker. We took it to the vet for 10 hrs. After the bun came back, everybody started to fight. The buns that fight most are towo females, the third bun is a male. All are spayed & neutered. The most aggressive bun, the white female, ferociously marks terrain and attacks the (sick?) female. They can fight tooth and nail, but usually the sick female wants to back off and just let go, but the white female is relentless. Should we bond the buns in pairs, or let all three bond at the same time? The problem is, when all three are out, the white female even attacks the male who used to be on top of the hierarchy and served as a police officer! Now it is only us who can act as the police, but we're worried that one of the buns might get seriously wounded:(

if you buy two bunnies from the same person, like they have lived with eachother from the start, do you need to seperate them for a month after each of them get fixed?

Yes definitely

Hello, you say with the cement process they have to stay together for 2 nights, do they stay together throughout the day as well with the cement process? xx

I'm hoping to get two male rabbits fairly soon and I was wondering as they are brothers and are already bonded when I get them neutered will I need to separate them and then sort of rebond them when they're hormones have died down and they are recovered or should I leave them together. Thanks if you can help as these will be my first rabbits and I am not really sure😊❤️

after each bonding session do you put the buns back in their respective pens or switch them those times? Then once the space is the "desired" size then do not put them back into their pens, do I need two separate litters or one bigger litter for them to share?

My female just does not want to stop biting, like every time they get close. He tries to run away she chases and keeps biting. It’s been about a weeks and she won’t even just smell him. He’s so sweet and tries to go up to her and smell her and whatnot but she just bites immediately. Not sure where to go from here besides more stress sessions

Has it improved yet? I've got a little bitey monster too. They other one hates it. I'm worried they'll never get along again. They are sisters and have known each other all their lives.

What do you do when they really want to attack? Like biting and turning around eachother. One of the two really doesn't want anything of it and is thumping but the other is like charging! Do you think they will bond? (sorry for bad english).
