Thank you for these videos. If I may, does this university prioritise those from disadvantaged backgrounds, for example: free school meal, single parent etc?

Hi, I explain this in some detail here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2jXYq2igtGJbdU the bottom line is that we absolutely do take into consideration someone's context, including relative disadvantage, but we cannot use those data to positively discriminate. We just use those data to fairly compare and understand someone's academic potential. If, for instance, two candidates have achieved very similar academic results, but one is from a more disadvantaged background, that person on balance is likely to be more capable and therefore more deserving of a place.

@@shreepatel1507same here, But I would like to know what they mean by “piece of written work” on the descriptions of the PPE foundation year, would you clear that to me if you know it? Like how many pages might it be ?

Thank you so much for your video. Are the applications reviewed in alphabetical order, or by who submitted theirs first, or any other way? I know that the order in which someone is reviewed most likely won’t change those chances of getting in but I am genuinely curious :)

They are typically reviewed in alphabetical order. Although, it will depend on the individual assessor. There is no evidence that those higher up the alphabet are systematically favoured or disfavoured as a consequence.

Hi Dr Williams, i'm going to apply to oxford for computer science next month, and will be taking the MAT as part of that. What i'm wondering is wether it would be sensible to do all 18 past papers (2.5 hrs each) before then, or if that would be a waste of time? Thanks for these videos, they are very helpful.

Hi there, there will be diminishing returns on each past paper you practice with, and you need to balance test prep with school work and everything else going on in your life. Generally speaking, the more you can practice and learn from any mistakes you make, the better. But I wouldn’t say that you have to do literally every past paper to be competitive.
