Wesley-great video with the Great Mark Baker! I am left handed but definitely a senior bowler bowling one handed but enjoy watching you two handers tear up the lanes. I remember a young man named Mark Baker that competed well on the PBA tour and I always pulled for him being from Orange County. Great that he has become such a great coach. One of my team members Pam had few lessons with Mark and he kept it simple and easy to understand since she is beginner. Thank you Wesley and thank you Mark!

Thanks a lot for this video. I am still pretty new to the 2handed style, started this season. After 22 years of bowling 1handed. The speed is definatly something i need to work on. Its now about 24 kph at the sensor, so probably 26-27 at release since the ball slows down. But i am also a pretty tall guy (194 cm) with even taller legs compared to my height (my legs are over 120 cm, very small upper body). The lenghten out the arms is a good tip to not let it overhook too soon

first thing I notice between the first shots with the shoulder coming out to far and it being steady and not coming forward is Wesley's balance during and after the release were cleaner and more stable on the shots with the shoulder not coming more forward

Ok with the shoulder i bowl five pin and i curve it like 10 pin but because your ball is only 3 to 5 lbs it's harder to find that spot when i drop my shoulder it always hookes to the 3 pin when it's squared i get it right in the pocket

Can you make a video about your thumb in two handed style?? I really want to switch to thumb in, because it offers more control and hand position, as of right now no matter how hard I try I chicken leg it, fingers come around the side of the ball getting max axis rotation and any ball just wheels. So id love if you can make a video revolving around your thumb style because it seems it’s kicked over to compensate for two handing (not right below the two fingers) and id really love to do that. Thanks!

Great video Wes. Thanks for the introduction to Mark. It looks like he knows a lot about your game but these points are great for any two handed/no thumb bowlers. Especially that a two hander's ball speed comes from the legs.

New to two handed bowling. been practicing and going twice a week for a few months. have my own ball. my biggest issue currently is sometimes im having that issue where my ball wants to hook before it gets to the pocket. is this a prime example of maybe my walk up is too slow so my ball isnt getting down the lane fast enough before friction kicks in? i keep thinking im throwing the ball with too much side or i should try to throw it slightly straighter but it feels like im throwing it properly. any advice would be great from anyone with two handed experience!
@piouswhale3 жыл бұрын
Ball speed for us two handers is about foot speed and how quickly you can build and dump the momentum associated with that. If your ball is hooking well before pocket you need to increase ball speed or decrease revs. You could also try moving left or right depending which is your dominant hand. If your speed is adequate and its still hooking, try lofting over gutters. Also depends on oil pattern. There is a chart you can google for ball speed vs revs thats pretty accurate

What weight ball for 2 finger grips? Do you typically use a lighter ball? I'm 6'2 230lbs with a 14 lb ball, but it still feels too heavy and makes my wrist hurt. Any advice would be appreciated ...

Is drilling a ball pin down a good idea or just getting a less stronger ball a better idea ?
@stevenvance75535 жыл бұрын
Jack Easum I’ll give you advice that was given to me. NEVER drill a ball to make it what you want. Buy a ball that’s actually is designed to do what want. If you want arcs and continuous, buy an arced continuous ball not an asymmetric that you drilled pinned down to smooth out.

Wesley, i dont get something, hopefully you can help me understand. why is that i see a lot of efforts on the delivery of the shots by most 2 handers, but Belmo looks a lot more effortless (with the exception of making the single pin spares)
@haikalmatnoor71735 жыл бұрын
yes it is.belmo used his technique very well so hes at his best efficiency.but basically dont get fooled by his 'effortless'.u can see when he plays on less oily lanes(which he need to throw harder), he tends to sweat, u can see on his 2 frames throw as an exampe, u can see hes sweating just after 2 sets of 2 frames throw.so technically yes hes sweating like we all twohanded but his efficiencies is alot more than typical house bowlers.hope it helps.

Thanks for the video. I’ve been bowling for a little over 2 years now and 2handed for 2 years exactly and just had my first 300 last week after a 299 a month ago. A lot of this video relates for me and i can’t wait to get on the lanes and practice getting my swing a little longer and maybe working on my steps. The problem for me is I literally don’t know anything about bowling, i just know i like the stand in the middle and I apparently throw a really good two handed ball also lefty lol. So when people try to explain to me boards and oil patterns and stuff I get a bit confused, I literally only know how to get up there and roll the ball. Anyway, if there’s anything you think could help me lmk otherwise great video! like I said will be working on some of this soon

I bowl two handed. I have a different style than you. I have a question. Why do you look down? In the before and after, you look almost straight down to the floor. From the camera’s perspective that’s what I see. I stare down a pin. If I’m trying to strike, as a right hander, I’ll stare down the 6 pin and that should give me the look I need to hook into the head pin. Standing at the far left dot, or first left of center depending on my ball. To reinforce what I asked, why do you look to the floor?

The real question: whats better? One handed or two handed?
@michaelcherry60105 жыл бұрын
One is not better than the other. It's about what works best for you and your game.
@gusk5 жыл бұрын
It depends on what suits your style best. For some people this can be 1 handed, for others this is 2handed. I switched after 22 years bowling 1handed because of a few reasons, but i bowled an average of 200 1handed, switched 5 months ago, and still in the 190+ region. But i do think i can score higher as a 2hander
