I actually had the honor to make a lesson with Frank Buffa myself. It was an amazing day and I made a lot of improvements. Actually I feel like he showed me one of your videos on his ipad and said to me "look at this, he is a guy I am coaching" referring to the fact of the elbow close to the body.

They come a long way with giving info on bowling lessons, it’s great to see the equipment and coaches and alignment of releases and the body keeping the elbow in. Great video

I am in that 160-170 average range, if only I had a coach around me haha but seeing videos like this really help me find things to work on and improve!

Record yourself like they do. Then compare the "mistakes" to what other players are making in coaching videos. It is what i had to do.. because I am also a 160 average. But doing that brought me up from 120.

I'd sign up for this immediately if it was around me. Only problem with the coaching tips......as a two hander, you don't have to have a bent elbow on back swing for more speed. At the high level, Troup, Jasper, and Ogle all are straight arm and throw it 18+ mph.

That was a great point about the relative importance of layouts versus coaching (and execution) for the lower to mid average bowlers. That would apply to me!!!

Where can I get a set of the puppet pins? Those would be great for a home bowling alley. This was interesting as I would like to learn two handed. I have bowled one hand thumb in and thumb out but at 58 can't generate enough ball speed for thumb out.
@notonyourlife7939
@notonyourlife7939 Жыл бұрын
Oh don't worry, you'll be bowling on "puppet pins" soon enough... we all will. The vomitous travesty that is the string pinsetter will eventually be coming to the center near you, just as soon a the USBC caves in and certifies them for sanctioned competition. Stay tuned for the announcement later this year. Bastardizing the game in the name of cost savings is the "future" of bowling, if you can call it that. Get used to no messengers, "strikes" that result from pins falling due to being clotheslined be the cables attached to other pins, and split conversions that are basically impossible on free fall machines, but will result in spares that your didn't deserve because the cables knocked them over. It's a joke.

Jimoo how far do your fingers go into the ball? My son is picking up two handed bowling and he goes between the first and second knuckles. Thanks, Love watching your videos
@tone-yo7192
@tone-yo7192 Жыл бұрын
It’s too bad he didn’t answer but if it’s any help, my fingers only go in at the first knuckle, so that they’re in just about half an inch. Two handed righty here. The drill that helped me progress the most was two step drill, Troup style. Notice Kyle Troup drops both his arms to the side with barely any bend at the elbows. This taught me to be consistent in my hand position release as well as through the swing, and to find a comfortable spot for my left hand to support the ball during the back swing so that your hands are always locked on the ball and there is zero wiggle while maintaining an easy yet firm grip. Slowly transitioned into a little elbow bend at the back swing and 0 elbow bend at forward swing for increased speed. Another good thing I practiced was cupping my right hand so that the ball rested on my wrist area, ensuring I always keep my hand behind the ball. Remind him that side spin does not come from turning his hand at release, but instead it’s a combination of hand position and letting the ball roll down the hand at release.

@@tone-yo7192 thank you. I will show this to my son. He has been experimenting with a bunch of stuff. I think he is close. Just needs lane time and practice to feel confident in what he is doing. Is there a video on the Troup style drill? Thanks again

Capturing the data with Specto is very cool, and I have to admit that at the arrows, I felt like I am accurate, but in reality if I hit 2-3 boards inside on one shot, 2-3 boards on the outside on the next shot and spot on the next shot, I have about a 5 board variance, and my current average is 169, so....I need to work on accuracy.

Nice to see two-handed coaching on YT! It is a shame there is not more online material (and advice) for two-handed players... Two-handed bowling is here to stay and there is not enough knowledge available for players who are starting to play with two hands or want to improve their game, and that is a shame. 0 Jacob, looking at your technique, my advice would be to work on your timing. It is causing a lot of problems in your approach. You have one step early timing (for a two-hander) and it makes your body out of sync with the ball. The timing point we look for is when the ball is in the lowest part of the swing (right beneath your body), at that point the foot of your third step (in 5-step approach) should be flat on the ground. That is the key timing point to be in sync with the ball and the movement of the body. When done in that way, your body angles are opened at the right time to allow the ball to travel freely, the backswing is unlocked (it can go even higher), and the hips are not moving oppositely from the ball, and thus, not creating the elastic tension that can lead to inaccuracy, and possibly injuries. Just to clarify, you have a lot of great elements in your technique (explosiveness, fast feet, balance), but all of them will be better when you get the timing near that perfect spot. Keep up the good work, it is a pleasure to watch your videos.

two handed bowling chould be forbidden, it only exists to help people that cant throw one handed like a normal bowler. even a 5 year old can get rotation on a bowlingball that way, that says enough

Why do they have that pinmachine? The pins are in strings?
@BasketBowlers
@BasketBowlers Жыл бұрын
It's cheaper overall. Cheaper upfront and to maintain. They only have the one lane. If I had a training center, I'd invest more money in the oil machine to put multiple patterns to practice on and save money on the pinsetter.

Probably because they are too old or are too injured to play all it takes is a blown knee or a neck injury or arm injury that could've stopped em from playing but most coaches actually still bowl so you're clueless

As a former state qualifier and now Varsity wreslting coach. I can say it's not that we can't play. It's that we understand it's just our turn to be the coach that made the sport fun and enjoyable for us. Plus, time is a constant challenge on the body.
