Pro tips 1 - Write what you feel. Write when you are emotional, you know that shakiness of anxiety for example that you get sometimes, use it to your advantage. 2 - Never overthink the lyrics because you fear judgement, because no one will see it before you release it. 3 - Imagine a specific scenario in your head, and imagine the atmosphere you are IN THE SONG, where are you, what are you doing, are these your memories, what exactly happened? Make a clear image in your head. You cannot write, if you do not know what to write about. If you want to make a song about what it's like to be a potato, you have to imagine that you are the potato, are you getting peeled, are you getting boiled? That works very well for me.

Bro, this makes a lot of sense, today I had this experience and decided to face the resistance (I ended up with 2 fye songs)
@jakandjoe34153 ай бұрын
See my problem is the complete opposite for me it’s soooo easy to come up with flows and lyrics it’s so easy but making the music sound good is what I have trouble with
@qiqionn3 ай бұрын
Well then its rly not that different from what the vid is about thats just your own type of resistance then. Instead of just making something Try to make GOOD music, figure out what makes good lyrics and flow and sit untill you make something that you would be comfortable showing to your friends for example.
@ethocookin2 ай бұрын
Yeah I think his problem is he’s starting with the trying to make it good part instead of starting with the creativity

What I do now is write while having something else in the background. I will have a show or a KZbin video play while I write, and it makes it more fun and easy to do.

I have to say, as someone going through this journey and sometimes struggling with these issues, something I can say for sure is that starting with lyrics is a great choice, if you can come up with your own vocal melody that's a great foundation. I don't use pre made beats I make all of my instrumentals myself, I often start with a melody usually on guitar or piano. What I've noticed with having a melody is that you'll end up trying to cram lyrics into that pre designated melody, it can get difficult trying to write lyrics and just go with the flow of the melody, Starting out lyrics first, honestly, just spitting some lyrics down over drums is probably going to sound like shit until you bring in other elements and start building off of the vocals but eventually it will come together and you'll have this insane moment and feel so proud of yourself. I kinda rambled here but honestly I'd love to talk more about this with anyone if anyone wants to add on or ask questions!

Do you have recommendations on a home recording setup I’ve got about 2500 to blow just don’t know where to start so many opinions
@MrFrigid2472 ай бұрын
@@KASAXN honestly you can use a fraction of that and just get a focusrite scarlett solo and an sm58, your local guitar center should have both of these! The focusrite is an audio interface it can accept the XLR input from a microphone and also a 1/4" instrument cable from a guitar. The focusrite also comes with an ableton intro license and if you decide to upgrade to another level of ableton they give you a discount for having the intro version. Hope this was helpful.

For me I realised in a very early stage of my journey that I always have creativity like the same way I have imagination. The problem really just came from making those thoughts into reality or just executing an idea or feeling. I learnt that it's better if I just go through the pain or suffering of it all and just do it, even if it takes minutes sometimes hours to come up with one line 😅

bro thanks for the video. Right now i am in a weird period of my life where i feel like everything i made, beats, writing lyrics are not original and to much repetitive. And i"m in this state since April. Everyday i try to make new beats but then i feel like that im just trying to avoid the white page. So yeah thanks for this video and i hope i will be in a better state of mind.

Hey everyone, excuse me if my English is not perfect, im from Argentina haha. Anyways I’ve been playing music my whole life and I’ve been making beats for around 5 years now. A few months ago I started writing my own songs. I never judged any of my songs cuz I labeled them as practice songs. When do I know my music is good enough to post? I just get really insecure about it.
@linckza1863 ай бұрын
you just have to have confidence in yourself and your music, you can post anytime you really want it doesnt matter the quality. Even if theyre bad in the future you can always delete them if you dont want more people hearing it.
@averyintelligence2 ай бұрын
IMO when you can play your own song in a playlist with similar songs other artists have released and you don’t cringe or feel embarrassed. Also playing your music to other people in real life, if it’s bad you will prob feel embarrassed. You can test on friends. Play a playlist and put your own song in it. Don’t tell your friends it’s your song. If they was bopping their head with the other songs but stop when your song comes then you know maybe it’s not ready. Also playing your song in a car loudly, play similar songs, then play yours. You will cringe if it doesn’t sound as good as your references. This is what I do. Or I live with a song for like 2 years and if I don’t get bored of it then I know it’s good, at least to me

I kinda think you’re wrong. For me it’s not boring once I hear a beat I really like I get smacked with dopamine and start coming up with lyrics and making voice notes I think the approach ur describing is making it manful and boring. Sitting in ur room looking at a computer with a notebook is like homework obviously it’s gonna feel boring get out and listen to some beats and get some initial inspiration or excitement then you can go to the pen and paper and computer

I have a song coming out in October called "someone save me" and it's mostly just about the things in my life making me depressed, but I said something in it and basically the idea is, what if my pain is the source of my music? What if when I'm happy, I can't make the same music I do now? This is the part that talks about that "I wonder if I'd still be writing if I wasn't hurting, and would I still be a good musician or a good person?" "Would my life still be okay if there wasn't pain in my verses or would I have to destroy myself to see my music flourish?" And honestly... I've never been more proud of myself
