This video sure took me back to when I was in Little League (I’m 61 now)..... I can just see that “glove mallet” in the dugout or change room.... oh my.... 12 years olds beating on each other. Thanks for the enlightenment of spreading that glove oil on a rag at first and working in the oil throughout the seams and uniformly. I learned a bunch of things, but almost 50 years too late. Seriously, nice for an old Phart like to pass on to my grandchildren. Now about that glove mallet.... My wife might start using it on me.... ha ha ha ha ha cheers....

I used coconut oil on mine, because in my country, I can't find glove oil or balm. It is a players preferred 12.5 H web from Rawlings and I absolutely love it. Still working with a batting machine softball as a mallet to break it in, coming out real nice. By the way, Rawlings, the pictures on Amazon for that glove are the perfect illustration for the word "understatement".

It'll just take a little patience, take a little time, a little perseverance, a little uphill climb. @@Grubthetalker I used traditional glove oil once and will never use it again. I applied it correctly and didn’t like the results. I also used Nokona glove conditioner that darkened the glove and didn’t like the results. I use Wilson pro stock glove conditioner that will make the leather soft so it’s workable. The Wilson conditioner won’t add weight or discolor the leather much like a traditional glove oil will. Use the mallet it’s fine, just make sure you have a softer surface to work on. Watch some videos on it so you know what you’re doing. Aso videos are the best showing you how to use a mallet, but I would stay away from the water method with a Rawlings glove, just my opinion.

Not sure if this Rawlings guy ever played the game, as a scout and player this is the best way to break in a glove forget the oil forget the water, do these steps and your glove will be ready to go. 1. Start to push the glove in different directions, back and forth loosen as much as you can. Don't worry it will still feel stiff, do this for 20 minutes. 2. Shaving cream, put it all over inside of the glove everywhere its ok if it looks all white just put it all over inside the glove. 3 Get two balls and put them inside the glove, get a belt or long pair of socks and wrap it with the balls inside. Set it aside for a few days. 4. Open up the glove and clean it with a most towel, start to move the glove again in different directions, if you have a mallet start pounding it in the middle of the pocket. 5. Start the process all over again put shaving cream inside the glove everywhere, put 2 balls inside and wrap it and put it away for a full week 6. Clean it with a moist towel and start to play catch. your glove should be ready to play but play a lot of catch Good Luck and remember see the ball hit the ball.

What about catcher mitts?
@RawlingsSportingGoods2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Since catcher's mitts have the most padding of any glove - they take the longest to break in. The best way to approach them is actually to catch off of a pitching machine at the same, or higher, velocities as the pitchers will be throwing when you use your catcher's mitt in game play. If you don't have pitching machine access, or if that process is taking too long, simply apply a light coat of glove oil to the entire glove with a rag, and play catch with it before it completely dries. Then you just need to keep playing catch often until the glove is ready to use in games. We hope this helps you out!

I have a process that is really quite precise, a sort of secret method known to very view. So If you're in the market for professional advice, today could be a lucky day for you; shaving cream, you rub it in for 5 min and tie it up with rubber bands, then put it under your mattress and sleep on it for a week, persistent. And though this method isn't easy, every second you spend is gonna pay off in payoff in the end.
