Here's how I broke in my new clutch to maximize it's life and performance. Also, first gen (2005-2010) and second gen (2011-2016) tC's use the same clutches and flywheels.

It depends on the manufacturer and the type of clutch, but 500 is the general break n time. Some clutches (stock) are fine with only 300 miles.

I had clutch assembly/flywheel replaced on a tc2 a few days ago. There seems to be more all-around noise than before, quick clashing metal sound on startup. Then generally louder as engine runs despite driving and shifting being ok. Last night the car would not start, lights worked (batter/alternator: new). Perhaps clutch pedal wasn't engaging starter or starter was not engaging flywheel? I took a shot in the dark and disconnected and reconnected the battery. Somehow this worked and the car started up. Does this sound most likely like a faulty flywheel install? I will bring the car back and hopefully they'll fix the issue without asking for more money. I was hoping most of this noise, etc would go away during the break-in period, but it's been 200 miles and unless I'm exaggerating it's probably best to bring the car back sooner than later. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Looking into this flywheel to add it with my ACT kit.. What's your opinion on the flywheel after breaking your clutch in?
@VampyreX13
@VampyreX13 2 жыл бұрын
I love it. The engine revs faster and the car definitley accelerates a little quicker. I didn't really notice any momentum loss, or I adjusted to it quickly. I'm glad I stuck with the slightly lighter steel flywheel vs. a very light aluminum one. I also still have my lightened crank pulley installed.

Go to the manufacturers website and put in your car's info to find the model you need. As long as the clutch and the flywheel are both for your car, they should work together.

2012 rs7.0 owner, noticed a ticking noise with my clutch when transitioning between my clutch pedal and accelerator while in 1st (from full stop) and while down shifting from 3rd into 2nd gear when making right turns on street corners. I had my entire transmission and clutch replaced Thanksgiving of 2022 and the noise is intermittent (every time I attempt to have my mechanic try and replicate the issue/sound - no replication) any idea what this could be? I am worried I am putting unnecessary stress on my clutch.
@VampyreX13
@VampyreX13 7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with that particular symptom, just the whining noise issue that occurs when depressing the clutch pedal (throw out bearing) vs. the whining noise when the clutch is engaged (input shaft bearing). Have you tried driving it around with the mechanic to see if you can duplicate it for them to hear, instead of letting them drive it around?

@ultramuygnarly transmissions are a little outside of my wheelhouse. I usually have my mechanic friend look at mine when it has problems. That being said, does your noise happen when you first start driving in the morning, or does it start happening once the transmission and gear oil has warmed up? If it only happens in the morning, then you may need to leave it overnight with your mechanic so that he can let everything cool down and then test drive it. Also, what gear oil are you using? I recommend amzn.to/3UbDSW8.
