Attention KZbinrs: Here is the bottom line. The Mcleod twin disk RTX is a great clutch. High quality. I've been running one in my 2016 Hellcat for quite some time. Every clutch has to slip. The Mcleod is very grabby so it doesn't slip...it skipps. So you will feel a slight shutter or vibration at times. Some people call this "chatter". If you can't put up with a little chatter don't buy one. Since most of my driving is in traffic I am switching back to the stock clutch. Not a criticism of the Mcleod....just personal preference.

I just got my WS6 back today with this clutch installed. I also did the Tick Performance adjustable kit as well and I highly recommend the speed bleeder as well. It’s soooo hard to lay off the throttle but I know it’s for the best. And they are 100% accurate about the pedal feel. It is almost as easy as stock. Maybe a tad more pressure but nothing horrible. Best $1500 I’ve spent on this car yet. McLeod is where it’s at!!!

I actually plan on installing this in my 2002 mustang GT, even though I only plan on 400 horsepower when I supercharged it, I like the sound of it being very easy to push in and being extremely smooth, plus with it being that good of quality I should never have to worry about the clutch. My mustang build is kind of a modern take on the car. I'm upgrading all the suspension, the brakes, putting either a Whipple or Eaton supercharger on it, upgrading the rear end to 373, and of course to a full exhaust from long tubes to an aggressive off-road x-pipe and I'm going with pype bomb cat backs, and of course the proper interior mods like very comfortable racing leather seats, a factory look steering wheel with racing features, the Cobra shift knob with a short throw shifter, and all buliitt or billet pieces. It's going to be gorgeous.

The Mcleod 6923-07 in my 07 gt500 gave out. It was abused a little. The disks still had stuff left but the floater and flywheel were tore up. It came in car so I have no idea when it was put in. It had nice pedal feel and started slipping under boost after 100ft burnout in second started in water. It also slipped sometimes going into a gear under boost before that. I'm only pushing 600hp ... It was replaced with Mcleod 6918-07HD ..Pedal is firmer not as light. it doesn't like reverse(shudders during release) but still breaking it in. It works great through the gears so far. NO boost so far because break-in. I have noticed a weird noise 2 times while idling but not sure what that is yet. throw out replaced with ford. Heavy duty ford pilot too. Do you you guys pre-torque the floater plate spring nuts? they were tight so I didn't mess with them. We shall see the other clutch worked great till it gave up. Its going down to Bithlo after well broke in so..tbc

Hello guys, great products and videos. My questions. 1- I'm building a Ford 460 with apx 650 to 750 HP/TQ, depending the heads, either the KAASE P-51 or P-71 heads and final cam specs, so should I choose the RST ? 2- I built a Ford 427 Shelby Cobra that is not a daily driver, so a break in period of 500 miles on the street will take like, 5 years. lol. How are you supposed to properly break in dual disk if drag racing only???
@McLeodRacingClutches Жыл бұрын
If the car is a dedicated drag race car, then you use a clutch made for dedicated drag racing like the McLeod Racing Soft Lok. The Soft Lok uses a sintered iron disc that doesn’t require a break in, drive around the pits to get some heat in it and go down the track. The RXT is primarily a street clutch first that can go to the track. But break in is critical for the longevity of the RXT.

A lot of people ask if it’s a noisy clutch. It most certainly is in my c6 corvette. I work as a mechanic so I installed it myself. I made sure I fell between the .020 - .025 inch clearance As stated in the manual. Also had 1/8 inch clearance at the bearing to the clutch fingers so I know it’s dead nuts on... The rattle/chatter with the clutch out in neutral is absolutely horrible. It’s also very disheartening to have so much chatter when you just spent 1400 on a clutch and spent a lot of time installing it (google C6 clutch installation) Makes me wish that I went with the organic RST instead of the ceramic RXT to cut down on that chatter. But hey I can hold 1000 hp....

No traction control? How does traction control affect clutch break in?
@McLeodRacingClutchesАй бұрын
During the break in we require 500 miles of easy stop and go type driving conditions. During “break-in” we suggest that you don’t apply full power remember easy stop and go miles. The traction control works when you have lost traction and applies braking, traction control does not control the clutch at all, the driver controls the clutch.

If you ever have an issue with the clutch get ready to wait a month for them to "look at it" and then tell you, you did something wrong... super expensive clutch for having so many rules to it.. don't drag race in the strip to much... don't use slicks... exc exc.. wtf did I pay top dollar for? Disappointed

Hello there. Which unit did you purchase for the strip? Some of our clutches we do not recommend taking it to the track, but we do have a wide variety of units that can handle what you would like to do with it. Is it just a track car or track and street car? Let us know. Thanks!

Their clutch is JUNK! Ours grenaded, after the proper break in period. "Can handle 1,000 horsepower" nope! The Hellcat ate it, like it was a scooby snack. Their customer service isn't great either. 90 days 😂

@@seedy6538 warrantee and performance dont really go together from what ive experienced. everything is your fault as the driver. Nobody wants to warrentee you beating the shit out of your car, lol. What clutch did you end up going with? Did it hold the power. Im seeing mixed reviews on the McLeod twin disk. Some love it others hate it. I read alot of cts v drivers complaining having issues. I bought mine 3 years ago. Installing it soon. I hope ill like it. My spec 3 chattered like crazy. After 10k mi my pressure plate ruined and my cable was working so hard it snapped. My spec 3+ slipped. So 3rd times a charm i hope.

Your video is mirrored. Not good especially when you have on your company shirts with logo. Boss is on the British side.

Do not waste your money on this clutch. Get serious, and invest in. Bad Boyzz Garage clutch. McLeod is a joke, we followed the rules-and 💣💥💥 the clutch fried. Experienced driver, with 43,000 miles on the Hellcat. McLeod is junk!

Hi Sayra! We apologize if our product was not our best. Could you give me an email explaining what happened with the clutch? I would still like to pass it on to our R&D department to make sure this does not happen again. Thanks!

McLeodRacingClutches You will hear from us. Such bad quality, it scattered. Folks, these might be ok in a Honda. But not a Hellcat! They're light weight. Not rated, compared to BBG.

I have a 600wheel 11 TVS 5.0. Has RXT for about a year. Car is set up to hook and drag race, but its a daily street driver too. RXT starting to get notchy going into gear, but otherwise seems ok. Car is driven hard with consistent 7200rpm blasts and hard launches. Car has 95k miles on it and i just blew up my stock ford diff. Went with Eaton Trutrac and Drives killer now. Hopefully my RXT holds up another year or 2. Rst was weak. I fried RST right away in that car. Rst will not hold. Get rxt only.

I got a rst twin disc clutch rated for 800hp for my 2015 mustang gt what do you recommend the max you rev it up to when shifting up and downshifting
@McLeodRacingClutches10 ай бұрын
We don’t have minimum and maximum rpm requirements. Just drive it normally the first 500 to 750 miles in stop and go type traffic, shifting the gears as much as possible.
