If you remove the end off one of those motors you can put clicker pen springs on the brushes. This will give consistent pressure on the com even when the motor is hot. Just a little tip.

You're right...it absolutely does work! I did this with my stock Slash & it was the only way to get Traxxas' claimed 30+MPH lol! Even after using the included optional gearing (23T Pinion / 86T Spur), I still couldn't get 30MPH but Traxxas sent me a free new motor (Traxxas has great support btw) and after doing the water break in method on my new motor, I got 32.06MPH! and documented It with GPS! It works and if it didn't, the racers wouldn't still be doing it after all these years. Thx for the great video. Great tip btw about placing the transponder up front! P.S. I've been enjoying your videos on the UDR & my UDR will be delivered this Saturday!!!

We run a 28 tooth pinion and we’re getting 38 mph on our stock slashes.. but the draft gives us an extra 2 mph.. the draft really makes a difference!! Nice congrats on Your udr!!!

Hey bro. If you drill a a hole in the lid of a jar just big enough to fit the wires through there’s no watery mess. Those Traxxas motors have built-in fan so they really throw the water around.

Water break in is to avoid the brushes from arcing on the com during the seating in process. Faster or slower depends on the motors..

Not sure if you mentioned it but you should use distilled water. Most tap water has to much minerals in it and you don't want that in the motor.

You might be able to use a wire for a consistent speed hold and increase. Get an appropriate length and gage of wire. Wrap it around the grip and trigger almost like a rubber band, except at the back side of the handle is where you are going to twist the ends of the wire together. Get the wire adjusted to where the motor is spinning at the lowest speed you want it at. When you need to increase the speed to the next, constant level, gently give the twist a little more rotation...rinse and repeat until you are satisfied the motor is clean and broken in.

Check the amp draw before/after you break it in. Higher amp draw the better

Get yourself a radio that you can turn down servo speed and dual rate. It will make it much easier to drive.

If you get a Plastic Drink Lid and Poke 2 holes for the Plug Wires, NO MORE MESS!!👍

Do you put any oil or something after breaking it in

Definitely need to add a drop on both bushings. After water break in. Use compressed air to blow all the water out of the motor.. then add oil to the bushings

@@bigalrc toothpaste to polish the com. You can also use brasso. Does the same thing

You should also make sure when you're breaking the motor in a cup that your motor stays in water. The entire time that you're breaking it in. Also, you should make sure that you put a couple drops of oil the bushings before you start breaking it in. When you're done breaking it in, you should use some compressed air. Blow out and/or get some electronics parts cleaner. Spray the motor out really well, then blow the motor back out and re oil the bushings. Mount it back in the car and go racing.
