Great guy. I seen him get one of his wins at Sunshine in St. Petersburg in 1976 or 1977 can’t remember exactly. I was 10 years old and my dad worked as fire rescue in the Kennedy Space Center and won tickets in a raffle. One of the most exciting days of my life! Mr. Semics Kidded around about signing my Honda hat that I had recently got when my grandad had taken me to buy me a new Honda XL100. In the scheme of things really not that big of a deal but to me it fueled a fire in me for MX and anything on 2 wheels with a motor for a lifetime.

Very glad I found this video. Bought a nice pair of Forma Terra Evo going on 4 months ago and thought I was going to have to give up on them (after a couple tries where I couldn't even get out of my driveway with them on despite them being "only" a half inch taller in the toe than my very unproductive current boots). Can definitely tell a difference after the first 5 minutes per boot. Going to do that a few more times then take a walk around the block and see how it goes on the bike.

The boot should also come with a sole that can bend. You had to put all your weight on it so you foot is not going to have enough power to do this. I say make some boots with softer soles and when they wear out they bolt on and just get replaceable soles
@Rob8018 ай бұрын
Responding to an old comment, but I actually noticed mine were softer because when I first started doing the exercise with my Forma Terra ADV boots, I found I was bending the sole at the ball of the foot instead of the front of the ankle part. So glad I was able to bend the soles by hand (and will have more feel on the pegs).

These boots now are made so stiff and it’s actually a very serious hazard and could be fatal if you can’t feel the brakes, gear shift, pegs, etc. We some able support but they don’t need to go this extreme to wear it takes 6 months to break a boot in

@Semics56 ай бұрын
I don’t remember if I mentioned it in the video but it’s best to leave your buckles as loose as possible when breaking in new boots. I would try practicing your shifting in a stationary position with your bike on the stand. Let me know if that helps?

Question sir. Do these boots get comfortable enough to wear them while walking? I ride euc (electric unicycle), you ride standing (to those not familiar). And I tried some of these on and they are stiff as hell. And I also walk when I stop riding, like when I need to buy food or something.
@Semics52 жыл бұрын
I don't think they would be good for what you are referring too, even after then are well broken in.
@Cons29112 жыл бұрын
@@Semics5 how are they for walking. Not long walks of course, more like stopping to buy some food and eating (so sitting). After they are broken in
@corneliusbartholemew67254 жыл бұрын
I dont understand the wrestling routine. Just put the things on and walk in them. I do lunges and squats to stretch the ankles. For really stiff ones, about an hour of wear under those conditions should be enough to get started.

Thats ridiculous. MX boots are the cheapest , and most uncomfortable things anyone will ever put on their feet. Even the straps wont last very long. The soles are are about as ridged as a slab of dried cedar. Ricky Carmichael even got out of breath trying to bend them. You think he wears these sturdy made boots? Like you, he likes to be able to feel where the peg is under his foot. The rest of the MX gear is almost as bad except the helmets. Helmets from $500 and up are actually well made and very comfortable. As far as mx socks and gloves? Now they are pretty, but these companies have so many people buying this mess, and unsure why they're buying it. Some like looking like professional riders, some like to think they are, and if thats fun roll with it brutha (silly). It's a shame , but these marketing companies have so many people actually paying them money to advertise their products for them . Just look on your shirt.
