I’m happy to hear someone who is finally admitting to total uselessness and even harm of inhaling before speech!!! However, you still advise people who stutter to focus on their exhalation:-( When we speak, we do exhale the exhaust CO2 gas, but our longs (air pump!) do this automatically:-) All normal speakers focus on their naturally normal speaking, never on breathing. Any person who stutters can also learn how to act in their speech just like all ordinary people and quickly forget about their stuttering difficulties.

Wow, thank you for this video. As a PWS I have tried different techniques and have seen the most success and control of my speech by exhaling then speaking. I used to think it was critical to inhale then exhale to start speech or you run out of air, but you proved that is not necessary, and can actually be a negative variable. Thanks Tim!

Thank you! Finally something outside the paradigm of most techniques. I stutter and my son stutters which makes me feel so guilty.😔 I have anxiety that runs in my family. He is a 17 yr old triplet and one of his sisters has Selective Mutism that stems from anxiety. So is the key to control the fight or fight response? Do you have any programs or books? Thanks James

So you're saying that the Mcguire Programme (that focuses mostly on breathing before talking) is a waste of time?
@timmackesey84883 жыл бұрын
No that is your personal opinion of my educational video. You are missing 2 key ingredients. 1) I specifically say that I respect anyone who has prospered using a program that emphasizes breathing. I am very familiar with Mcguire. 2) If you can disprove my conclusion that a deep breath is not necessary, I will buy you a Tesla of your choice. An ENT, 20 pws, and 5 SLPs collaborated on this factual video. I grew up stuttering and I sincerely hope that you are pleased with the approach you are using.

It’s hard to stop stuttering

"stopping stuttering" may be too black and white. I invite you to think of first accepting stuttering and then evolving. Listen to my podcasts at STUTTERING SOLUTIONS ATLANTA. I wish you the best Lu.
