Another great video mate. I use a very similar technique when breeding. Those Kmart tanks are the perfect size too. Glad I'm not the only one who struggles with spotting eggs and newly Hatched fry. A lot of the time I use my phone camera and zoom in as far as I can to help see (doesn't always work... Lol) As you say, if I see only one, I work on the assumption there is more.

Shadoh Bettas, had a good laugh as I also try the mobile phone technique, but not with much luck. Thanks for the comment.

Hi, I make sure there is daily infusoria untill they start taking larger food, e.g micro worm, BS etc.

Do you care or monitor/test the amonia, nitrite and nitrate during breeding.. I got worried and put them back in the good tank. Thanks.

Hi Keith, I don't test any of the parameters. I don't feed heavy and I think that makes a big difference.

Brilliant vidio!!, can I start on powdered protein foods then go to baby brime shrimp?
@TheUrbanFishkeeper3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Becca, if I am breeding in tubs or without filter I stay away from any powder food as it seems to foul the water to quick. If you have lots of plants, you may be able to get away with it.

Hello from Canada .what type of Water ? tap water, tank water or ro water?
@TheUrbanFishkeeper3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dana, I use aged tap water for everything. Aged being the water has stood in a bucket for at least 24 hours. I do add a declorinator to the aging water.
@jigglypuff57puff55 Жыл бұрын
For infusoria I leave buckets in garden permanently. I put leaves or soil in them to start the culture. In these buckets mosquito larvae are often found which I feed to my adult fish. If your stuck trying to start a new culture quick your roof gutters will already have infusoria in them to start the new colony . Also I was wondering did you breed your paradise fish in the same way as you do your siamese fighting fish?
@TheUrbanFishkeeper Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice of the infusoria. I always struggle with my cultures. The paradise fish bred the same way, but some other challenges. Hope to upload the video on breeding paradise fish soon.

For infusoria, I don’t use tank water because it has micro predators that eventually eat all the infusoria. I use a special culture that doesn’t have any predators in it. A local breeder gave it to me

Great video. What age do you start to see the colours and pattern on the young ones?

Thanks Eddy. Depending on growth rates I start getting a good indication of colour at about 8 weeks

Have you tried the way I do it?
@dirtywrx847811 ай бұрын
You need to condition your pair for a week or two. Feed them really well. Bloodworms will get them to eat a lot. Let them see each other a few times everyday. Once the female has a big stomach with vertical stripe. The male has also started building a bubble nest. Time to put them together. While they are conditioning you need to set up a small tub with 4in of water, heater at 80, a small bubble wrap and one indian Almond leaf. Make sure you cover the top with a lid or plastic to keep the humidity. Put the male in the tub first. Than put the female. Cover it and leave them for 3 days. You can check up on them everyday but just make sure not to spook them. It will usually take the second day for the male to build the nest. Usually they will spawn the second or third day. Check on the third day and observe to see if the male is only under the nest. If the female is hiding and skinny. Also look a the bubble nest if you see white spots in the bubble. If you do than take out the female. The male will have to stay with the eggs for another 3 days until the fries could swim.

I don’t plan on breeding but still interested in knowing everything I can about them. What do you do with so many babies once they are grown? Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge ❤️🇦🇺

I will give a try. infusoria Vinegar eel Micro worms Would u pls write how many days Untill we can give the other fish food
@TheUrbanFishkeeper3 жыл бұрын
I use infursoria for the first 5 days or so, but also add a bit of vinegar eel from about day 3. Depending on the fish type I start feeding microworm or BS from about day 7 or 10. Once I see those pink bellies it is just BS and I use microworm if I run short on the BS. Hope that makes sense.

Hello i am from Tamilnadu, INDIA....Is live feed is compulsory for parent betta before breeding ? so many youtubers in INDIA said that live feed is compulsory for parent before breeding....btw i am going to follow your method now....RIP my English 😂....And can you show your own breed adults ? Great video....going to watch all your videos.....
@TheUrbanFishkeeper3 жыл бұрын
Hi Hyper Kid and welcome. Hey your English is good. I do use frozen food for my adults, blood worm and BS. I have never had a problem conditioning for breeding using frozen foods, so in my opinion it is not a must and successful breeding can be achieved without live food. Live food is always a good option for any fish provided it comes from a clean source. Good luck with the breeding.
