How to BREED CRESTED GECKOS!!! Part 1: Breeding and how to prepare

I’ve only done it a couple of times. I just blend it up in the blender with their food. They really seem to like it

details are good, emphasis or enthusiasm is good. one thing that will make a video get boring fast is when something is repeated 6 times. also, slow down a bit and try to speak a little more clearly.

great vid, how soon do you recommend to breed new geckos you just got ?

I would quarantine them for 60-90 days at least and then if they’re 2+ years old AND weigh 45+ grams they should be ready to breed. Checking female calcium sacks is also very important

How many clutches of eggs can a female produce from a one time mating?

Females can retain sperm for a few months so I would assume they might be able to have a few clutches but I honestly don’t know for sure. I think it just depends

What about male biting females at base of her tail? Not hard, but just holding on to her

Sometimes they’ll do that if they don’t grab the right spot. I would say it’s pretty common but not ideal. There shouldn’t be any injuries or cuts though. If there is, I would separate them and let the female heal for sure!

No injuries or cuts mate, just seems like she's not interested, tried a few times and no eggs or observed pairings yet Male is 42g and female is 56g

@@AD4MTHMS Idk if you did or not, but I prep the females beforehand. I’ll put my males lay box and paper towel (and even a plant sometimes) in the females tank so she can smell him and it seems to make them more “ready”. I usually try to do this for a week before I put the male in. And right now isn’t normal breeding season so some females won’t have breeding in mind at all. Breeding season is typically March-September or so

And honestly it’s pretty normal for them to bite their sides, neck and tail. It’s usually the start of breeding. Obviously you wouldn’t prefer it but it’s normal. I wouldn’t stress unless your female is getting injured because she’s way bigger than your male
