So… we had Dubia roaches that weren’t breeding. Some people make it too dark so they don’t get day/cycles. So while I have a black bin, I needed to trade lid for a clear one for light. Those egg crates give them plenty of darkness, don’t worry about it.

I feed mine from my garden scraps and they are huge. They get tomatoes, squash, and random veggies. I put a reptile heat pad bc its cold here and they huddle pretty much in that one corner and reproduce none stop. Good thing is bc of the cold if one gets out, its not alive long enough to get far. @@waragainstmyself1159 it takes them like 4 or 5 months to become adults. so ya, if you only have 25 dubias it will take a while. it was probably closer to 2 years. that is why they cost so much. keep them warm, make sure they have water, and dont bother them or stress them out. if the females get stressed out they will drop their stacks very quickly. that is all i can tell you really its easy. oh and you have to buy more every once in a while to keep them from imbreeding. i am going though that now.

Mine really like to eat butternut squash if you haven't tried that yet. They like the oranges but they seem to respond well to butternut squash as a good alternative to foods that are high in citrus. How often should you add new roaches to help prevent or at least minimize inbreeding? How high should the humidity be? Also, is it possible for the derm-howeveryousayit beetles that serve as cleanup crew to be a problem for the roaches? I've been keeping a dubia colony for a few years but I want to try and make it even better and get as many recommendations and opinions as I can.

If you dont discard smelly and old veggies and food inside your bin, it attracts other roaches but the chances are pretty slim and esp much much lower when you have pretty good ventilation that doesnt trap the smell of food inside the bin.

@jessh77582 жыл бұрын
If your females were newly emerged, it takes about 65-70 days for gestation. You should see some babies any day now. I just started my colony a couple weeks ago. I started off with 100 large then ordered 60 adults (20M 40F) the next week. Some of my females have had babies (about 100 so far). I had to remove some males cause every couple days I would only notice a few more babies. Since then I've noticed more and more lol.

Hi it's me again from a couple of minutes ago, just can't wait until tomorrow for the tips I did research on (from 2 different breeders). So here it goes... They should not get in too much protein. Buy "OXBO" (sounded like they said it's rabbit food?), 25.99 (10 Pound Bag) Dollars @ Amazon.ca Female: Small wings, Male: Larger wings, but they can't fly. Stick with Orange Vegetables & Orange Fruits: Carrots, jams, oranges etc. Not too much humidity, causing mold. Those Roaches are from South America (probably why they are so freaking expensive here-that is just my opinion)? Some of these you did mention, I don't want to take over 😂... *More females than males together because the females could get territorial, and end up killing some of the babies ". Substrate or no?.. *Adults don't eat that much as well, food only started disappearing after the nymphs showed up. Set up: (Bedding: Wood/Dried leaves, or moss - but largely dry). NO need to use any kind of substrate/bedding at the bottom of the enclosure, as the frass builds up the Dubia Roaches will dig and hide in the layer that develops (Only some research). Hope this info would become useful 🤗🐉🦎🐍💞

Dude slow down lol you talk so fast. A little tip humidity is overrated and there is no need to feed them water if you are giving them regular fresh veg, the veg is plenty for their water intake and the veg alone is also enough to raise the humidity they rly don't need a high humidity, any dampness is just a way for bacteria to build up, i had thousands of roaches in just a few months by keeping them dry with a permanent supply of dry roach chow and fresh veg 2 or 3 times a week. Another tip to help them grow to adults faster is to mix some bee pollen into the chow mix its like giving them steroids and is very healthy for them and for your reptiles also
