You must be psychic, I just picked some of these up last week!! Gorgeous little fish. Also grabbed sparkling gourami which I might try to spawn in a few weeks.

I love these little guys!!! I have a dozen in my 75 gallon rainbow community tank. The fluorescent blues and reds they throw once they are settled are stunning and they breed like rabbits even at a young age. Looking forward to seeing how many fry you get 👍💕

Just a side note...they are slow growers!!!

Hi Mark, I stumbled upon your channel and I love it. It's not about how much money you (can) spend or bigger is better but about passion. I built my own tank when I was a kid but after moving out I never picked it up again. Simply forgot about it due to carreer and family etc. Now, as an early retiree and kids moved out, I consider to pick it up again. Your channel will be very helpful. Keep up doing uploading and sharing your knowledge. Most of all, infect people with your enthousiasm. Thanks a bunch.

I bought 6 of these and 5 were dead in the bags, so I bought 5 from a different source. The lone survivor is doing well. Now that they are all healthy they really are beautiful so I decided to breed them and get a large school for my 55. I knew right where to look for information on how to breed! Mark is by far the most knowledgeable KZbinr. Thanks Mark, love your channel.

very informative, just wanted some clarity. Do i need to have a group of rainbows to get them to spawn or just a pair would breed as well?
@MARKSAQUATICS3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. You don't have to have a group you can just a easily breed just a pair on their own.

Hi mark great video as usual question can you use a spawning mop in a community tank for live bearers
@MARKSAQUATICS5 жыл бұрын
Yes the fry will hide amongst it once they're born.
@egoranonymous32233 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it be easier to grab the string with the tweezers and then push it through the back of the yarn? That way the force of the movement would be working with you instead of against you.

Hi I'm trying to find the peat soil stuff you used in your neon tetra breeding video. Where can you get this? Can you get it from pets at home? I don't really know what I'm looking for. Help please
@brucebrazaitis3215 жыл бұрын
Most garden centers stock peat moss, you just have to make sure it is pure peat no fertilizer or lime added. If you are trying to breed neons don't use coco peat! Coconut coir or coco peat is notorious for having a high salt content something you want to avoid in breeding neons. The cheap and dirty method is to use oak leaves. Grind them up and you will get something like the compost Mark talks about in other videoes . Oak leaves will make really nice tannin stained water. I guess if you really want to be like Mark you should use English oak (Quercus robur), I used our native live oak (Quercus virginiana) . If you are in the USA and don;t have a source for oak leaves,the company Josh's Frogs sells bags of live oak leaves for terrarium decor. BTW I only produced two baby neons but that is better than none. My old English book All About Tropical Fish stated that the authour believed that once you get the water right neons are as easy as zebra danios. He also stated that you want zero carbonate hardness in the breeding tank hence using rain water in those pre- R/O water days. So still have to try again with some new young fish. HTH

Could you do a video on how to breed Boesemani Rainbows, please? Also, can we use frozen or are live foods a must? Great video by the way.

Hi Mark great informative video. I bought 10 of these beauties today, it was a random scoop from my lfs, it was difficult to tell the sexes, firstly as they were stressed and the colours had washed out and secondly, they are very very small fish, anyway, I got 10. Now that they have settled a little, the fin colours are beginning to show, it seems i have a mix of males and females however some of the fish have a burnt orange fin colouration. I know from information I've gathered that the red fins are males and yellow fins denote females, but which way with these burnt orange fins go, male or female? Cheers

Hi there Mark! Was wondering if you may be able to help me with a quick question. When would you recommend removing the spawning mop? Was inspired by your videos and alls going great so far! I'm at about 2 days after my first round of hatching.
@MARKSAQUATICS4 жыл бұрын
You can remove them when you like really. It all depends on how many fry you want to raise.
