😆These plecos are stunning! I’m so excited to see the Diamond Tetras are going extinct in the wild due to pollution in Lake Valencia in Venezuela. So, there are pockets of them in the streams and tributaries going into the lake. Soon they will only in the hobby. They are super peaceful but very fast feeders. Exciting feeders. Some folks think they’re mean because they feed so fast. Anything you can due to promote folks to keep them, and breed them, is only good for this fish. I am so, so happy to see that you have them. Thanks Mark!

Love this series :) I have about 20+ little CPDs now coming up in the shrimp tank. The parents were in there because of their tank disaster and since i have put them back in their aquarium the babies keep popping up. It has been about a week now and it is amazing to see how many they would actually have eaten normally :O thanks for doing these videos :) Glad life with pets recommendet you back in spring :D

having subscribed last night and watched a few videos i decided to have a go at breeding zebra danios and bristlenose, trying to catch the exact male danio from a group of 10 in a 4 x 2 x 2 tank i decided to move all the plants and caves out,,checking the cave to make sure no fish are left in there i see 2 large clutches of bristlenose eggs, not sure if i have done the right thing but i have teken them out and hatch them in a home made hatching jar, thought the male may eat them if i put the cave back in.

Hi Mark, hope you are great. Pleco Qustion: i was having success with breeding plecos but fell into a slump. I may have been prematurely removing the eggs out of the cave. Is it best to wait for the sack to have been almost fully diminished? I have seen several Utube videos where the fry are taken out of the cave very early (egg with a small tail). what say you?? thanks. ps, i keep the fry in a floating with a water pass-thru where they can be fed more precisely.

Mark I found out today about bristle-nose babies/fry. I was doing usual cucumber, zucchini, algae wafers. Some were dying. My aquarium shop has many bristle-nose fry. They feed them little cichlidpellets. Apparently they need a bit of protein as well in the early stages. Water was perfect, just needed a little protein.
@MARKSAQUATICS6 жыл бұрын
Yes they need protein in there diet. I use rapashy grub pie just sprinkle the power in the water. But not to much ok.
@kellycasperhanson4426 Жыл бұрын
Great idea from Mark, of course! I've been breeding a lot of BNPs, and found the fry also do great on canned cut green beans (not French cut!) with the little inner beans REMOVED. The babies can die by getting their heads stuck in the inner bean skins. They can not get out due to their spiky heads. I've had it happen repeatedly, or I wouldn't believe it. They will also nibble on grapes, cut in half.

im still having trouble trying to get an infusoria culture growing... my water just turns a dull grey, and develops a skin on it. if you break the skin... the smell... oh my lanta the smell... stuff just seems to rot. the first time, it was in the dark, the second time, i tried it with light on it... the second time, the water cleared a little bit, but was still super cloudy and smelly... im using a 6500k LED flood light on it, the same ones i use on all my tanks to grow the plants... but it doesnt seem to really clear up much... am i doing it right?
@MARKSAQUATICS6 жыл бұрын
Du grey and smells like .... is the way it goes. The smell will go after a few days and the water will turn clear. When it gets a skin on top just stir it up .

@MARK'S AQUATICS I had a surprise tonight in my goldfish tank tonight as it's not intended for breeding but I have discovered 5 baby Albino Bristle Nose plecco fry!!! 😲 I breed guppies and platties but I have literally no idea what I am doing in this instance. I have a 17L fry tank that houses my guppy/ Mickey Mouse Plattie new born fry that live in there until they are 6 weeks old. I keep the temperature in there at a steady 80 degrees, no sand/gravel but instead it has a carpet of Java Moss, it's scaped like a garden with a couple of live small plants with long stem plants at the back and the filtration is a sponge filter. Because I keep live barer fish in there, I feed them 'Liquifry Number 2' with baby brine shrimp & grinded 'Fluval Tropical' flakes. I change the water 3 times a week so the PH is always at a very steady 7.5. The reason why I mention this is because the plecco fry I have discovered are in a huge 198L tank with 2 medium Comet goldfish, obviously the pleccos' mum & dad whom are probably only about 5 months old themselves (I bought them as babies and the aquarium shop keeper apologised as he told me that forgot to ask the breeder what sex they were.) and 2 small Orandas'. I am guessing that at most they are a couple of days old so I am really worried that they will be seen as food for the other fish. Thankfully it is a very peaceful aquarium and runs at about 20c degrees with the parameters fairly standard for a hard water area like mine of 7.5 PH with the hardness of steady 180 due to living next to the River Thames. Would it be possible to safely transfer the plecco fry into my nursery aquarium mentioned above by acclimatising them and making possible adjustments and the other question I have for you would be, if it is possible, what adjustments would I need to make and what do I feed them on? As obviously the 'Liquifry N2' isn't necessarily designed for pleccos? I do have a spare empty/not in use 25L tank (which obviously needs cycling) plus some spare driftwood that I can use but any suggestions you may please, will be seriously appreciated. 🙂👍🏻

Hi Mark... i have a 2ft 5 tank and have just bought a large Male albino which i would like to start breeding with my other female i have in the tank... i have an established pair already with the female and a male who always each month produce around 150+ eggs but i like the characteristics on my new large male albino... Hello Mark.. I'm new to breeding but my common bristlenose are giving me around 150 eggs per batch..the issue is that I'm having problems raising them with only around 10 surviving so I think I'm going wrong with feeding.. are you able to offer a feeding guide or tips as mine seem to die due to getting large stomachs so my feeding must be going wrong somewhere... also what size is your breeding tank you have in the video.
@MARKSAQUATICS6 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven. First of all I need to know What your feeding them, how big is the tank there kept in, and what filtration your using. Other things like do you move the fry to a different tank stuff like that.😀👍
@stevenw12236 жыл бұрын
MARK'S AQUATICS ..thanks for getting back to me..I leave the fry in the cave for around 4 days until tails showing..then I separate the fry into a breed box with air stone until swimming... after a few days I put them in a separate 20L tank where I hope to grow them out which is flat bottom... feeding on algae pellets and courgette but I have a feeling I'm leaving it in too long which is why they are dying but I'm not sure...water readings fine.
@MARKSAQUATICS6 жыл бұрын
Well it sounds like your doing all right. When you put them in the 20L make sure you use the water from the main tank. add some wood to aid in digestion that's important and keep the food down to a minimum ok . Also make sure your using a well cycled filter..
