Caridinia sp. tangerine tiger is an absolute remarkable species. They are one of the most vibrant shrimp having some amazing coloration with yellow and orange. This video goes in depth on how we keep and breed tangerines tigers at Flip Aquatics. We talk about the origin of tangerine tigers, their water parameters, tank setup including substrate, filtration and decor, water changes and how often, feeding and what type of food, and lastly about hybridization. I hope you enjoy the video on how to breed and care for tangerine tiger shrimp.

Voice over was great! Sounds like you were able to revise what you wanted to say and highlight more important details. You have a more structured narration than on the spot rambling (which isn't bad) in this one. The Tangerines Tigers are pretty! I just got my first order of cherry shrimp, and I love them. My favorite thing about them is how they buzz around the tank just like a bee. I totally get why they're called Taiwanese Bees, they float around a lot like bumblebees and honeybees!

Hey love the voice over, just a question, I just want to make clear did you say it was harder for Caridina shrimp to adapt to a lower TDS than what they used to having, example, my tank TDS 150 and breeders tank 200-240 for CRS. Many thanks

I got tangerine tiger shrimps because I heard they were the hardiest of caridinia species. I also heard they can handle any water parameters... Since getting them I've noticed my colony struggles in my water. They fail their molts, they abort their pregnancies and they die often. Breeding is rare, but I hope over the generations my line adapts to my water parameters.

I love tiger shrimp! I had no idea you could grow and keep them in tanks. How long does it usually take until they grow to eating size? Do you move them to a larger tank as they get bigger, or are they ok somewhat crowded the closer they get to full size?

How do you get a "medium-low" PH? I want to put Neos and TT together but I feel like the buffering substrate is going to make it to low. How do you get it somewhere around 6.5-7?

Well, no, you probably wouldn't find yellow _Neocaridina_ shrimp in the wild. The tiger pattern is in most wild-types, but the yellow isn't. Apart from the genetics of it, yellow is a very bright colour so the yellow shrimp would be found and eaten by a predator at an early age. That's the whole point of them being brown, olive or colourless in the wild; it helps them blend into their environment, which makes it harder for predators to find them. Occasionally a slight colour variation will pop up in a wild shrimp population (i.e. a more redder brown), which is where red cherry shrimps were originally bred from, but they will usually be very dark, dull and not much different from the standard brown. It's from there that they were bred, and slowly brighter colours came out, until eventually we get to the strains we have today.

Can you cycle the substrate in the boxes, then move it to an active tank when you're done?
@thomaskrafft9890
@thomaskrafft9890 7 жыл бұрын
slipper409 When he talks about a buffered substrate it refers to the type of material it is. Some are inert and won't affect pH while others are buffered and move a pH almost permanently either up or down until they need to be exchanged. The tubs make it easy to remove only half at a time and keep the beneficial bacteria populations high.

May I ask a noon question? I see many guys breeding different colors, is it possible to breed bigger shrimp? I thin that a shrimp the size or just a bit smaller than an Amano shrimp would be amazing. Again sorry for the noob question.

I guess it may be possible, but would take decades if not centuries to get them to a consistent size.

why is it more "frowned upon" to mix Neocaridina than Caridina?
@NeonTetraAquarist
@NeonTetraAquarist 7 жыл бұрын
Dorin-Mirel Popescu Becuase if you mix neos, they breed mostly brown/clear babies. It takes years to line breed and get a good solid color or pattern in a neo shrimp, and to just ruin all of that work in one or two generations is a very frowned upon thing to do.

They don't ship to usa! I tried to get some tigers and no "america" or "usa" on the place to put in for place you live at it's all in Europe; unless I put United Kingdom's but I don't live in Britain, I live here in the USA, so this is quite frustrating and confusing how is anyone supposed to get any kind of food or shrimp imported to overhear if we as "USA / AMERICA " are not on the guest list ?
