Brooklyn brew kits got me into this game just over 3 years ago now. Definitely good for someone that's new and wants to learn all grain brewing at home.

@@BrewBrosUK I’ve only done a handful of extract kits so far, but came across these ones while looking to see what else was possible. I’ve yet to try a grain kit like this, but the thing that puts me (and possibly others) off is the temperature control on the boil (I’ve got the fermentation temp sorted with the fermentation fridge I built).
@BrewBrosUK3 жыл бұрын
@@ryanguest9606 hi do you mean the boil or the mash temp control? I get pretty good efficiency on my stove brews tbh - lots of stirring and sometimes I up the grain by 5-10%. My OG readings are nearly always on the money. I did a Doom Bar clone recently and it was spot on....so much so that we’ve produced our own kit 😀 Brewery in a Box - Tribute to Doom Bar | All Grain Reusable Beer Making Kit www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B091Q3J7L8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_30YNJB3S42HD39BM5YT0

Just drinking my first ever homebrew. Really pleased with the flavour...as you say a tad overcarbonated but a success in all. This was a great way to learn the basics of all grain brewing. I've since done 3 smash brews of my own which are bubbling away in demijohns under the stairs. Great video guide 👍 thanks alot brewbros. Tip to any other newbies out there......if you can afford it buy a little bottler and an autosiphon....the siphoning part of this is stressful as hell and not particularly easy as the tube you get could do with being a metre longer.
@BrewBrosUK2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching and commenting! Yeah the siphoning bit is tedious tbh so the bottler and auto siphon is a great shout. Happy brewing! 🍺
@ChuckUnderFire4 жыл бұрын
Tim, you’re a legend. I’m wondering if you’d have a little better transfer into the demijohn with a quick spoon (nice Tick reference BTW) whirlpool during the chill and then using that cane siphon to do the transfer. Also I can’t help wondering if just your fingers oils be just as effective as the tube clamp. Outstanding as always. Can’t wait for the next brew.
@BrewBrosUK4 жыл бұрын
A quick spoon?! A double entendre in there methinks 😂 I think you’re right about the clamp but I didn’t want to encourage any ‘but you didn’t sanitise your thumb’ or ‘you didn’t follow the instructions’ comments!
@ChuckUnderFire4 жыл бұрын
Hah! True.. way to keep the trolls in their place.. I suppose I confused the statement with the random parenthetical Tick reference... what I meant was: Since your chill only takes 15 mins or so, once you start chilling get your spoon. Whirl it around in the pot for about a minute. Really get it spinning. Then leave it and don’t touch it for the rest of the chill. When you’re ready to transfer grab your racking cane and start racking from the top of the wort in the kettle into the demijohn. The hops should be a pretty noticeable cone in the center bottom of the kettle. Avoid it and get as much wort with the siphon as you can. Transfer complete. PS: Feel free to do the sanitizer siphons thing, but I always just use a turkey baster to start the siphon

Stupid question I expect but did you use all 3 bags of hops? I thought they were for a choice in flavor
@BrewBrosUK2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes we did use all three which is what we recommend you do. The hops dictate bitterness and aroma so they are an integral part of the recipe. Hops added early in the boil add bitterness whereas the hops added late add aroma. Once you’ve done a few brews you can experiment with which hops are added and when as much as you like. That’s part of the fun! Enjoy 🍻

No you use your siphon/racking cane and work from the top of the beer down and shut it off when you reach the sediment. We made a separate video on this here kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKiYZqGhmcaFrZI

What if you're over 3.8 l?
@BrewBrosUK2 жыл бұрын
Well that’s better than being under 3.8L! Just fill it and discard the rest. If you have more than half a litre spare perhaps your pre-boil volume was higher than it needed to be or your boil wasn’t vigorous enough. Either way it doesn’t matter at this stage.
@thewrastler2 жыл бұрын
@@BrewBrosUK I guess you could also calmly boil it off to reduce further too? I wouldn't want to discard too much wort
