I'm over 70 years old and have used a CHEMEX for making coffee at home for many years. I have had hundreds and hundreds of cups of great coffee from my pour-overs, and not one time have I ever used a scale or a timer. My friends who have the same set up also got a chuckle out of this video. Coffee videos, videos about new guitars, videos about RC cars… All things that I love, but the videos are geared to make you buy totally unnecessary stuff… Upgrade upgrade upgrade. I mean, just enjoy what you have and be thankful 😂 By the way, the music in your video was really nice👍👍

Looks easy enough and I’ve tried this a million times with all of that stuff in the video; the Baratza, Chemex, gooseneck kettle, scale, timer, everything. It never tastes right, or how it tastes at the hipster coffeehouses. I just don’t understand what I’m not doing correctly.

Just tried it after watching this video. Definitely better than all the past times i had tried it. It helped that you had the Baratza in the video showing the exact grind setting. Will keep practicing this.

Pay attention to grind size. You have to keep on trying different grinds till it comes out under 5Mins and with taste you want. It’s annoying, but it’s trial and error. Don’t be too hard on yourself and just try to have fun while trying to make them a coffee if you wanna learn more and get a feel for it get some cheaper coffee so that it’s not too much of a hassle to waste. You can find your own flow.
