I did this with a junkyard bought 2jge. New bearings, rings, valve seals, lapped the valves, gte headgasket. The engines compression ratio is half a point higher than a Gte. Megasquirt 2 ecu, t4 turbo, 15psi on thr wastegate. Damn thing pulls like a freight train. 💪🏾💪🏾

*5-6 years ago, a 2JZ GTE was around 4k. During the pandemic, they skyrocketed to their prices today at around 8k. But now everyone knows that the 2jzge is everywhere in America, and it comes with a car for about 2-5k on average*

Because a lot of teenagers came of age and were probably getting some fat unemployment checks from the government. It all goes back to supply and demand. Demand for these engines are skyrocketing while the supply of cheap oem stock engines are dwindling.

@ogk129 There may be some truth in your first comment, but it's mostly due to the 25-40 year range with the KZbin channels that have pushed the numbers up on certain engines, and cars.

What sucks is how the price for GTE skyrocketed. I wish i had just got started on a swap project like 6-7 years ago vs debating it now, i played myself lol. It’s hard justifying $6k-$8k for a jdm gte motor and still need a trans and all the work, NA-T might just be the play nowadays

The 2JZ will never truly be an LS killer. Just for the simple fact that. For the price of the junkyard 2JZ. You can get a junkyard LS and turbo it. 2JZ is just too expensive to build now
@juwanhowardhll8019 Жыл бұрын
Not if you look for the right parts and make sure it isn't a low quality product but I get the parts are expensive but you can find some for good money if your lucky

Money being no object the 2jz not only can compete but will dominate an LS.
@FirstnameLastname-pe5ib Жыл бұрын
You could just do gasket, pump & send it. They hold 600hp all day. More if you use a big turbo setup. (Small turbo's come on too early and bend rods over the 600 range)
@804MRMAN Жыл бұрын
You can get a whole GS300 with a 2jz in it that's actually running for about 2,500 and spend roughly 2,500 to get about 500hp. THAT'S RELIABLE, SMOOTH, AND NOT BLOW UP LIKE AN LS.
@untoldguitarist Жыл бұрын
LS only is winning on junkyard parts pricing. Still isn't dominating a built 2JZ or a S55/ S58 BMW inline 6. Where you only tune the car with a down pipe and get 600+ whp reliabilly.

Thanks for all your info on this motor. I just bought a 2002 IS300 a few weeks ago and having trouble with ISC motor. I got it to relearn once after the throttle left me in middle of traffic a couple times, but I cannot get it to relearn again. I bought new TPS thinking it was bad, and got it set at 14.9%, and it seems like transmission is acting up because of isc acting up. Manual mode and buttons work then don't, and you have to goose the car over 40 to get in 3rd, and over 50 to get into 4th, then 60 or 70 to get into 5th, and it doesn't like it on that shift. If I delete the isc and do a throttle lock, will it affect the transmission?

you can as far as i know, i never had a 2j in my hands but as far as i have understood from several forum posts, the ge and gte share the same crank and rods just the pistons, headgasket and head are different. You don’t need the oil squirtes if you go for forged pistons anyways. Everything else should be plug and play for the ge or gte

Two different engines....but how did the 2jz....compare to the 1UZ-FE v8 as far as strength and reliability?
@Hype679 Жыл бұрын
Both are ridiculously overbuilt. The 1UZ is basically Toyota's LS, albeit DOHC as opposed to Pushrod. As someone else mentioned, you can push a JZ up to around 600-700 hp with some warming over. But parts have been going up quickly in price. The 1UZ is a little cheaper to find and maintain from what I know and they can be cranked up to similar levels as the 2JZ, but again, that's where things get pricey.

there’s no point of swapping the heads, the GE head flows better than the GTE head, hence why when people boost them, they only change out the GE pistons and rods for the GTE pistons and rods
