So when you added the jack stud to the 3 stud "wall" you built on the right side, did you have to add another stud to the back to make the drywall flush? I can't quite tell, but seems like I'd need another 2x4 in the back of the closet to make the drywall sit flush . Hope this makes sense.

Yes you are 100% correct. I didnt think of this during construction until it was time to put up the drywall. And then I forgot again when I made the video. 🤦♂️ Good catch!

How do you measure the opening for closet doors before you put the drywall and trim on?
@CityBillyAdventures17 күн бұрын
The instructions on new closet doors should tell you the required size of the "rough opening". This is the space between the edges of the 2x4s when you frame in your closet. Add one inch to this measurement to account for 1/2 inch of drywall on each end to get your final opening. This total measurement should be at least the width of the new doors, and probably just slightly bigger. Trim doesn't really go inside the door opening and shouldn't factor into your measurement.

Can you walk us through permits for this?

I'm sure some areas would want a permit but honestly that never even crossed our minds. Your county building department would be where to get one.
