Awesome good!! Stitch and glue boats are fun to built. Just a word of caution based on previous experience with stitch and glues: try to avoid trailering with outboards if you can on smaller boats. I had an issue with transom cracking from sides even with reinforced corners. Ended up welding a mount to front of trailer to attach 5hp while towing.

I really appreciate the video, I want to start my on boat soon. I want to start with a wood frame like this one, but I want to reinforce it a bit, and coat the hole boat in fiberglass so I can use it to hold my airboat motor and frame.

Useful video, i was searching it because here in italy it's raining too much and my mother was thinking "hey we should buy a small boat for when the streets are full of water". Personally i should have mounted a motor, the hooks for the rows and a tube in the center for a sail, but for a video tutorial it could be too much😅

To anyone too busy to gather the knowledge, epoxy is toxic and can causes a couple of different health complications, so please put on a mask and protective gloves when working with epoxy. Also make sure you don't get any on your clothes as any kind of exposure can cause allergies and skin conditions.

I'm in the planning stage right now, can you please specify the thickness of the frames? Can't find it anywhere. Thanks edit: I have another question, how did the sides react to bending after you glued the butt block? I assume it wouldn't want to bend in that area due to the epoxy and the additional thickness?
@gewibu3 жыл бұрын
As for the frames: You can use 1" x 2" (20mm x 40mm) battens or 12mm plywood. Bending the sides with the butt block is not a problem. It's only 6 mm plywood. Please visit boatbuilder.gewibu.com for more infos.

Great job! When do you remove the cable ties along the edges of the panels?
@gewibu6 жыл бұрын
Same answer as below: You glue the inside of the boat first and the cable ties stay in place. They should be covered by the epoxy. When it comes to the outside, the inside part should be dry and hard and the boat sticks together. You may then cut the remainings of the cable ties at the outside or grind them away when you round the edges before you attach the fiber and epoxy. Attaching the epoxy and fiber should be done in one workflow. Inside first and outside the next day or later.
