gaaf man! maar ik heb even een vraag, wat heeft caferaceronderdelen.nl allemaal kunnen leveren want ik zie niets speciaal voor de gs500 op hun site staan, en zijn hun zadels comfortabel? ik wil van de zomer namelijk ook van dezelfde motor een cafe racer maken, maar ik twijfel tussen een vast zadel van die site of met het (dan wel iets omgebouwde) originele zadel voor extra comfort (ik wil er namelijk een road trip mee maken). en heb je je motor opnieuw moeten laten keuren na de modificaties?

I don't know if you'll see this in time but I'm thinking of doing this to my bike. I have the exact same bike and was wondering how it handles and how the comfort was like, I've never owned a cafe racer and want to make one but it looks uncomfortable to ride, that's the only thing that puts me off. Great bike btw, it looks cool 👍

What should be uncomfortable about it? You dont change much about your bike besidestthe seat and honestly, if you arent over 150kg the seat will be big enough and if you buy a good one or modify your old one, there wont be a worse comfort. The problem I had with that mod is, that you need to put pretty mucheeffort into hiding cablesaand stuff that isnt black or silver... Cause it doesnt look so clean undertthe plastic partsaat the back ^^

Madeleine Loewenhi! It's not possible i guess... and not safe. i welded 2 brackets on the fram. i used the end of the frame i cut off and thn make it fit.

Yes i did it myself, the seat is bought in one piece. I made 2 pieces of iron and welt it on the frame on 2 different places and on the back i drilled 2 holes to assemble the seat. If you wanna know more, let me know!

Very cool bike dude. The wife just said for our anniversary she is going to pay for a donor bike for my next cafe project. I've mainly been looking for 70's era Honda Cb 350s and 550s, but I just discoverd how cool these gs500s can look. I see them for sale all the time at a good price and wrote em off as the looked like complete asshole. But damn, I have seen some really cool ones lookin around the web. They have that retro cafe apleal but also mind streefighter ish. I think I will pick one up should I come across a good deal.

I know this is a year old but I'm bored so I thought I would chime in. I have built a few cafe bikes (mainly 70s era Honda CBs) and from what I saw in the video, he did not spend much money after the initial cost of buying the bike. Looks like the aftermarket parts he put on were new mirrors, headlight, seat (possibly diy, probably custom ordered), smaller "bullet signals", new muffler (I think, couldn't get a clear view of that side) and possibly a tail light. He also has the frame and motor painted or powdercoated. If he did it himself it probably only cost 10-20 bucks for quality paint. Powdercoating or having proffesional paint it would cost quite a bit, around 100-200 USD a I would think. Not sure about the seat, but if he had it custom made it could be alot of money potentially 500+usd. If he found it somewhere and made it work it was probably again around 100-200usd. The reat of the stuff probably cost a 200-300usd depending on where he got it. The big thing with doing cafe bikes is time and effort. You likely will have to strip the whole thing down to the frame to clean, paint, cut useless brackets/tabs off, alter the rear end, relocate things here and there, some minor wiring, pit it all back together and in spec flush all thr fluids etc. The last one I bult was a 79 cb650, and I paid 500usd for the bike and ended up putting another 1000usd or so into it. I Had to do alot of mechanical work on the top ens and carbs, if I hadn't had to do that it would have been 600usd or so. Edit: that seat actually looks lime it may have come off a stock Sportster.
