I’m about to start working with my son on a film set, and we intend to build a canoe together in our spare time, I’m so looking forward to it. Where did you get your plans?

Looking good so far! Where did you get the CNC vectors for the stations? If you don't mind.

I bought the canoe plans which came as a PDF. Then I just plugged them into the CNC software and made sure they were to scale!

The video shows that you are using 1/2" ply for the core of the strongback, but while not stated on screen, it looks like you are cutting the stations from 3/4". Is there a particular reason you ran the screws from the 2x2 into the ply, rather than from the ply into the 2x2. Seems like having the screw head on the ply side would be stronger. Thanks - Enjoyed the video!

The stations were made from 5/8” plywood instead of the 1/2” that was used for the base of the strongback. The only reason I went from the 2x2 into the station was because I pre-drilled all of the holes through the 2x2 so that they didn’t split. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Buck looks great don't use the level to apply the shear strips measure from the center line equal distance on both sides this way you have a symmetrical build. All the books on canoe building are doing it wrong when they use a level

Thank you for your input. The strips are all cut down so we should be seeing something take shape soon!

@@kiloindia9798 they all give up getting a Chevron pattern points to line up in the bottom of the hull because the football opening is asymmetric due to using a level. They all say well it's not important that the Chevron pattern is a mirror image. When in fact they just don't know how to do it.

@@kiloindia9798 of course I'm right.

Actually the angle is the most important as it changes the strength if not correct. Where the ends of the strips end up is nothing more than eye candy. Your welcome.
