The four generations is the best part of this project. Memories made that will last forever.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s one of the main reasons we have made the video so that we can always revisit it!

I'm getting ready to start my build and hope to be able to have the same thing with my boys, my father, and grandfathers. Thank you for sharing. @@mcelvycustomwoodworks9060

Thank you! I scratched my head for a minute thinking of the best way to do it. Definitely worked like a charm!

@@mcelvycustomwoodworks9060 Another way would be to take a rubbing. Stick paper on, go over with a pencil and you get the outline that way.

@@Nickle314 I did that first actually. It worked ok but the backlighting let me get a clearer line to transfer.

Just out of curiosity… What species of wood are you using?
@mcelvycustomwoodworks9060 Жыл бұрын
Western red cedar for the main body with basswood and walnut for the accent strip.

Because I can see the amount of squeeze out I can clearly estimate the amount of excessive glue that you used. Do you know what holds two strips apart from one another well it's not air it is it is glue that gets trapped in the bead and cove. The glue is non compressible. The glue you see leaking out is the glue that was compressible. When glue dries it leaves a void where the glue used to be and then you sand the strip right into the void and you find that gap. That Gap is now coated in dried glue that epoxy will not stick too. I don't think you even begin to realize how badly the information you've been getting is all wrong.
