A super simple way to build a sturdy loft ladder for anyone who needs quick and easy access to their loft. I used a leftover 16' piece of 2"x6" wood and another piece of scrap 2"x6" to form the frame of the ladder. I used some galvanized piping and sturdy hooks to make sure the ladder stays put when going up and down it. There you have it! Cheap and easy and just about anyone with a couple tools and build one for themselves. Thanks for watching! Easy, if you know what you're doing. I'm a 52 y/o mom and grandma that needs a ladder for my shed loft and I'm determined to make it myself. I don't have experience yet but I have all the power tools. Now I just need to figure this out, lol. Wish me luck! 😁

Nice little video. One thing I would add is that you should cut the bottom off the ladder before you set the rungs level as the level will change once material is removed from the feet.

Time for a new saw blade! I wait too long too but eventually it gets really dangerous. Cool ladder I did the same thing but with logs on the side. Still works after 5 years, watch the video if you want it's called the "stadder".

Great idea! I have a small closet situation with a narrow opening to the attic. I'm going to take your galvanized bar and use a fire ladder to hook over the bar. When not in use, I'll just fold it up,and put it away!

Nice ladder! Well done. People should know for heavy duty or exterior applications, blocks of wood should be added under the rungs/treads. Or the treads should be mortised into the sides (stringer) of the ladder. Rungs relying on shear strength of the screw only are prone to failure over time.

Hello, I'm excited to attach a ladder I already have to the wall to get up into my loft however I can't find hooks like the ones used in the video. I'm so curious what else I can get at Home Depot or Lowes or somewhere online that will hook on and attach to the ladder at the same time and be safe and heavy duty. I'm so curious what Peter Hoffman used who said above that he built a ladder using the video. If you have any recommendations for good hooks Tine House Listings please do tell! Thank you!

As a tiny house liver for decades I sure wish more videos would have well designed stairs that look like real stairs, not ladders. Stairs that have lots of storage space underneath so no space is wasted. Not everyone can handle a ladder set up.

Let’s say you didn’t have any supplies leftover (I don’t ) and I need a ladder to get into the bedroom of my used 5th wheel 😳 because the prior owner left something that could never be deemed steps. I’m living in it full time as my tiny home and My 53 year old body is very tired of sleeping on the couch. I’d like to try to build something like you did here. What do you think the costs would run? Thanks!

Tiny house giant danger. Look at attic pull down stairs if you want a tiny ladder. This is a serious risk. Every aspect of your video is unsafe. Starting with the base plate of the circular saw floating instead of being rested on the board! Screws into sides of steps instead of notching (Datoing) a groove for the steps or even at least blocks under them. Yet you had the nerve to mention safe in your video lmao!
