I ran into two of those Cohiba cig boxes at a flea market the other day, and couldn't turn them down! Love your cigar box guitar builds! Great videos!

Hello from Wisconsin! I just discovered your Channel and think it's great. I also like your headstock cutting template you used in this video! Do you have a copy that I could download for a future project I am planning?

Good plan dude. A few CBG projects gave the the confidence that I could do a decent enough neck to justify committing a $20 truss rod to a real neck project. Nicely done. 👍🏻
@homebuiltshop7 жыл бұрын
+Bonehead Guitars thanks. Baby steps. I feel like I should do at least 1 more of these to fine tune a couple of things before I make a 6 string neck. Maybe I'll make one with the truss rod. It does need some relief in the neck.
@BoneheadGuitars7 жыл бұрын
Yes sir. I did several before I wanted to try a 6-string. They're great practice for carving and fretting. I had to revisit the CBG idea not too long ago that I need to get posted. I like what you're doing.

Great stuff man! I would suggest you get a wireless lapel mic for clearer audio. Rock on

What's a.good neck width for a three string?
@homebuiltshop2 жыл бұрын
1.5" is usually what I use.
@jakebreeze49457 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if your hole that you didn't have the right bit, was in a metric size. 12mm I think it would be. I would suggest investing in a metric set of forstner drill bits. I need to do that myself haha. Although I don't know that I've ever seen any 🤔
@homebuiltshop7 жыл бұрын
+Jake Breeze I'm sure you are correct. You can get metric forster bits. I'll probably have to get a set. Would've saved me some time if I had them.

Yep, ditto :) printed mine out on some card stock and I keep a few different lengths in the shop. 24" is my fave for a CBG

Nice. Guitar making is an expensive dragon to chase. I've not yet made a cigar box one, but a friend did give me a really nice Spanish cedar cigar box, so maybe it's time.

Am I seeing you correctly, are you playing left handed? I'm getting ready to build one of these 3 strings and I happen to be left handed so I have to string things backwards, not sure if that's a challenge or not. I've never been able to play anything not even a Kazoo...so I'm hoping I can learn a little bit and be able to play.
@homebuiltshop7 жыл бұрын
+Powder River I am a lefty. Its not harder to build. With 3 strings tuned to an open tuning, you will be able to play it pretty quick.
