using zvs driver and flyback would save a lot of cost for the generator. definetely will try this out.. love it

Great video :) I wouldn't of guessed you could drive a tube like that with just a ZVS and flyback. What's the max voltage or wattage of that tube? I bet it's pricey lol. If you post more I'll definitely watch it. (criminally under viewed...)

The maximum voltage of the tube is 25kV approximately, and the power is roughly 300W I actually got my tube for only $10 from an eBay auction from a seller who said he couldn't get it to work I took the small risk and bought the tube to see if I could power it myself And ofc it seems to work fine 👌

If ya don't get shades made for I. R. Laser protection. Say goodbye to you're eyesight. Just a slight reflection from across the room and you are done.

Have you got any updates on this? Im really tempted to make a portable laser out of the 40 watt tubes you can pick up for $70 new these days. I have horribly irresponsible ideas in mind.

Eventually I will come back to this Maybe like in a few more weeks I've been working on other projects for a very long time now There r actually tiny 50W IR laser modules u can get on eBay called FAP800 (yes that's the actual name) which requires a different power supply that must provide >50A to the laser

@@theelectronmachines oooh I'll look into those. I have a ghostbusters looking power pack I use to power a multitude of gadgets I make and I've been finding myself wanting more and more to make a more powerful laser blaster, as lasing hornets in my house with a little 2.5 watt diode laser is tedious.

@@thexaviousdoesthings568 lmfaoo I actually did the exact same thing I used a 8W diode laser to cut down a hornet nest too but it was so slow bc I was also doing it thru a window 🪟.. and yeah for that IR 50W diode laser I'm not yet sure on how to drive such a thing I do know you'll need a ton of cooling like large heatsink

@@theelectronmachines haha nice! I'm actually looking at a massive poison ivy growth that's actually taken over a tree, and while I'm pretty sure I couldn't realistically make a dent on it, I wanna try severing the vines at the base and see what happens. But I don't wanna get any closer to it lol.
@thexaviousdoesthings5685 ай бұрын
@@theelectronmachines oh also! For that IR 50W laser, have you considered using a super capacitor bank to fire it in short pulses? They're inexpensive and can push a lot of current, I'm actually considering something like that for the co2 tube to keep my battery pack from dying.

the tube is also x-ray generator
@theelectronmachines Жыл бұрын
im not so sure 22-25kV will produce x rays inside of low pressure co2 but this is a very interesting thought i can test with my geiger counter and make a video on
