Hello!I want to make a copper container for a moonshine machine as a gift to a friend for his 65th anniversary.Please tell me how you connect the bottom and the cylindrical part of the future capacity of such a volume, as well as how you prepare the cylinder for its docking and subsequent soldering.Is it necessary to cut the edges of the sheet in the form of petals for their reliable coupling, or do you make do with the usual overlap of metal on metal with their subsequent soldering?And more:What thickness of metal for a volume of 100 liters would you recommend using?Thanks.

Thanks for sharing the secrets of your trade. I'm about to put it to the test. Lol I'm sure it won't turn out as good as one of yours but with your suggestions it will at least not be a giant paperweight! I do have one question, what gage copper are you working with in this video? Thanks again.

16oz minimum is what I’d use

Hello, I need to find out the thickness of the sheet for the moonshine still?
@bryansworkbench8585
@bryansworkbench8585 11 ай бұрын
Copper thickness is actually determined by weight so a 16oz sheet of copper means it’s 16oz per sq ft which is about 24ga. Which is fine for still building as a minimum thickness in my opinion. But is the standard in the kits. If your going to build your own make sure you use thicker on any place that you will have lots of pressure or heat like the bottom of the pot and the cap

@@bryansworkbench8585 I'm writing through a translator, I don't understand your system of calculating metal thickness, could you tell me in millimeters? Hello from Kazakhstan!

And explain to me why your distilling still are made of thin sheets? Isn't that a dangerous occupation?

Instructions are vague. How did you create the two v-sections on the body of the still?
@bryansworkbench8585
@bryansworkbench8585 Жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the cone and the cap? If you are looking for how to make them from scratch I don’t cover that in my videos because this a kit I just assemble it. But if you look up how to make a hvac reducer it’s the same concept. Reduce from 14” to 4”

Or are you talking about the the beads on the main body of the still? Those are ran through a machine called a beader

@@bryansworkbench8585 Thanks for the reply. I was asking (perhaps not specifically enough) about the two v sections approx 3-4" from the top/bottom of the main still body - the large rectangular/circular body. As you have said it is a kit I assume they were already created?

@@dwaggys3322 ya those are beads they are used to strengthen the body of the still. You run them though a bender

It took about 3 months and it’s the 15gal. But just call the owner is a good guy and will tell you how long it will take I even think he offered me a smaller one sooner but I wanted the one I got

What gauge of copper can be used?
@bryansworkbench8585
@bryansworkbench8585 3 жыл бұрын
Well that depends on if your gonna run a closed system (with a thumper) or open system. The closed systems have higher pressure and I would say 16oz at least.
@MrJackassz
@MrJackassz 3 жыл бұрын
@@bryansworkbench8585 will 26 gauge work with a closed system? I may use my stainless steel instead for my boiler! Do you have a video explaining how to install a thermometer, the size needed, o rings needed and such? How do i seal the lid to the pot will vice grips work? I see videos but they all are missing important things? Can compression fittings be used for the copper lines running off the boiler to the thumper?
