One sheet of OSB, an older version of a Raspberry Pi, a monitor, a few buttons, and a joystick are all you need to build an Arcade machine! It can be made under $100 in just 4 days. It's a lot of fun to play it but even more to build especially if you can share the experience with someone and teach a younger person how to use the tools and build cool stuff!
If you enjoyed the video please share it!

Hi, quick question: I was planning to build your Dremel-CNC, but in all your newer videos you don’t seem to use it anymore. Is there a special reason for that? Would it be better to invest in the Indymill parts instead? It’s a serious question, I would prefer to work with my Dremel but if you say it has very clear disadvantages I might change my mind. Thanks!

Hi, obviously IndyMill is better compared to Dremel CNC, it's bigger, uses mostly metal parts and has way more powerful spindle. The downside is it's more expensive and if you don't have much space Dremel CNC might be a better choice. Another advantage of this project is that you can easily 3D print parts for Dremel CNC. It's not like there is something wrong with Dremel CNC but since I have IndyMill I prefer to use it. But I still have one of the Dremel CNCs I build so maybe it will be featured in the next videos as well :) Build whatever works for you now, learn, and move on to something bigger like IndyMill.

Thank you very much for your kind response! I think that I will start with DremelCNC then. 😀 keep up the great work, I really enjoy watching your videos and learnt a lot, and you even motivated me to think of little new projects to tinker with.

I made a two player bar top arcade game in 2017. I laser cut it. I used ras pi, old hdmi screen, two f15 usb boards, old speakers and an old audio amp from one of those floor rocking gaming chairs.

Can you build a fruit machine for my Border Collie which dispenses treats if he wins? Big buttons and fun noises?

That came out pretty epic, and it's a great use for some of the really old components that would probably have ended up in a landfill sooner or later :)

Wow! I didn't think that I'd like an arcade build made of OSB, but actually it looks really cool. Something you might consider since this is a one player arcade machine: If you have an open USB port available on the Raspberry Pi that you used, consider adding a wireless Xbox 360 clone controller so that you can play 2 player games with your brother (if there are no USB ports open, you can always add a USB hub, they are pretty cheap). Not sure if Recall Box supports this feature, but I know that Batocera does. With your 3D printing skills, you can make a custom holder for the controller to hold it in place on the side of your arcade, or just make it out of scrape OCB. Really excellent job you two, you should be very proud of your hard work.

Thanks a lot! We did considered it, we wanted to buy a panel mounted USB connector and mount it on the side so that you can easily connect the pad and disconnect when it is not needed. Using a Bluetooth controller is also an option.

Raspberry Pi’s are crazy! I used one for running ChatGPT 4o in the terminal and of course it wasn’t fast but for it’s price faster than my 7 year old Mac! Thanks for the vid! Keep the good work!

Not really a danger if everything is well insulated. All of the classic Arcade machines were basically built of particle board. If you look at all the You Tube tutorials on how to build a custom arcade machine everyone from Tech Dweeb to We build stuff to the kits you can buy from places like Game Room Solutions here in America use MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is basically a mixture of very fine sawdust mixed with a very, very toxic glue and resin compressed into sheets. In other words just about any material you use is safe as long as you don't have any exposed wires anywhere. Yes I have built a few of them myself.

Electricals and metal cases can be pretty dangerous too! As long as it is done right, there is minimal danger and this job looked perfect to me!!
