Good work on the pond, for the fencing you might want to put another post that fits in from either the top or the middle of the corner posts on a 45 degree angle that goes inward to the pen, if that makes sense. This will support the pen and will prevent the pen from caving in on its self in the future when the soil gets moist 👍🏻

Originally I was going to add straining posts round the corner I probly should have! If needs be I'll have to add some in I had to cut the chicken wire as I went round the corners as it wouldn't restrain properly. Have a good day

Love your channel nice duck pond they're noisy little buggers good on you any chance you could give us a bit of background on your goals are here or is it just to live the good life?

Very noisey! So we always wanted to move to a farm in Pembrokeshire for years! So 10 years to late the family managed it and now we're working towards, self sufficiency and a stable income. We sell chicken eggs and veg out an honesty box which does well and also hay every summer, and working to towarsds expanding in everyway we can with more land and more plans.

Thank you bud! It all started with my grandparents having a holiday down here and they had a caravan for over 30 years so that ment every holiday was in Pembrokeshire rather than abroad and always felt like home 🏠 dad has the farming and agri knowledge and the rest of us have been learning from scratch

Great video, wire needs to be dug in though to stop the fox.
@MowersFamilyFarm Жыл бұрын
Fox will jump over that wire as it's around 3.5-4feet high, however they have an enclosure thats nearly finished now which is 6 foot high fencing and I'm burying around 1 foot of metal grates around it to hopefully stop a fox digging into that enclosure :) will update a video on that soon as it's nearly finished, have a good day!

you gonna need a filter on that pond because ducks will dirty that water in couple days
@MowersFamilyFarm9 ай бұрын
Had the ducks for nearly a year and a half now, still no filter, just every month or two in there with a bucket and empty it, takes about 20 mins of barrowing out water which isn't to bad tbh.
@rickyhinkle8477 күн бұрын
how often do you have to do water changes? or what do you do for filtering?
@MowersFamilyFarm7 күн бұрын
@@rickyhinkle847 it goes green really fast, so I do around 3/4 changes a year. In the pond with a bucket shoveling it out takes around 15 minutes. Most people create a plug and drain system but I don't mind the exercise from shoveling. They use the water no matter the colour but they have a small blue plastic sand tray we use as a every other day clean for them.

How’s the pond liner hold up with ducks claws?
@MowersFamilyFarm Жыл бұрын
Quite a few months later! No issues at all! No leaks or anything just need to make sure they have natural shelfing or some way to climb out as they find it a tad slippy.
