Sup Mike! Bro, it was way longer too! I just wanted to make sure I explained it right to newer builders. I was gunna include the VESC and RC Remote configuration also but that would have been like a 30 min video. Dude, Jared's mount are pretty killer! Tested and love them. Real simple design so that there isn't any movement on the truck from vibrations. I'm a LiPo guy for now. But, I do wanna try a 10s4p or 10s5p to see if that alleviates the voltage sag, I'm sure it does. but, I take care of my lipos and they've done well for me :) Thanks as always for the support brotha! - Neil

Haha, right next to the flux capacitor which I bought of ebay! Hey Sam, thanks for the support and kind words. In actuality, when I was in search for my first electric skateboard the options in my price range were not attractive. Luckily, I found many resources online which helped me fulfill my budget while obtaining a new hobby! You'll find that full production boards are beautiful and innovative in design but at the end of the day they have to make money. When you cut out the middleman you have a much more rewarding product and customer service is basically myself! Anyhow, thanks again for stopping by! - Neil

@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks 🙏 a lot Sam! I am far from the best builder. The esk8 community is actually full of some of the best and fastest boards! At the end of the day, companies like Boosted and Evolve have to make money 💰 somewhere right?! So putting the “highest quality” parts is not in their best interest due to the cost of these parts. However, with DIY you are only limited by your imagination and your budget. And that is just some of the evidence that your DIY board can be better than a Boosted or Evolve. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions!

I did not have to change my lipo connectors. You can cut and solder new connectors if you need to. Be VERY carful to not complete the current between the positive and negative leads as this will creat a spark, damage the batteries, and possiblely hurt you.

Hi everybody, I got about question about the charger. I did not notice the way you charge your batteries once they are out of power. Do you need to take them out and to plug them ? Is it a way to adapt a swith or whatever to charge them without having to take them out ? Thanks,
@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for watching! I hope you'd consider subscribing to see more videos like this one. So for this build I do need to use an external balance changer. If you are looking to charge with say a laptop style charger that would require a BMS or battery management system in the board. Balance charging however, is very reliable in comparison and can be faster. However it does require you to remove the batteries from the enclosure. Feel free to check out my video on balance charging: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZXJc6Wog7qmpdU - Neil

@@rainywater6430 Nah the wire colors don't matter (ex. A black wire doesn't hold a negative charge. Black wires are just what are used as a standard for negative.) You could still plug the positive terminal lead into the black wire and it's still a positive run.

@BigKidsOfficial 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Anthony, both are great motors. The 6374 motor will give you a higher top speed and more torque. It can also handle a higher wattage. Personally, I wouldn't even consider the 6355 motor with the 6S battery. It's a much smaller motor and if stressed going up hills may overheat compared to the 6374. If you do purchase from DIY Electric, please consider using my code BIGKIDS10 as I receive a very small commission which I reinvest into the channel. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions. - Neil

DIY, in general will not be cheaper. However, for what you pay on a prebuilt board, spec wise, you can create a more powerful or rider specific board. Also, outside of cost, the board is built for you.

Be careful using a switch or high current loads like this set up. Most switches are not rated to handle currents above around 10amps which would mean at 42 volts (10s) it would be limited to 420 watts. Better alternative is to use a high current heavy duty relay rated for the 42v and amperage draw of the motors (use at least as high as the vesc ratings) and then use any old switch you want because now the switch is only turning ye relay on/off an the relay is switching the actual current. I assure you that switch in this build will be the first failure point.

On you battery , it says 5S=18.5V. In series, it will become 37V. But you mentioned 42V. Is there something more to it than what's printed on stickers?
@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
You're right but what I mentioned in the video, 42V is actually the total amount of volts. 4.2 v is the capacity of 10s. What the stickers on the battery reference is the nominal voltage of the battery. It's a little confusing but nominal is the middle value of the voltage range

6s is the minimum cell count for you to have the current propel a person on a board. However, if you get (2) 6S Lipos for 12S that may be Overkill for a new esk8er. If I were you I'd go with (2) 4s or 5s Lipos in series.

@BigKidsOfficial
@BigKidsOfficial 5 жыл бұрын
@@robertmaceda996 yeah! Actually, I have a build in the planning. Already have a the batteries and the motors. But I'm using (5) 2s1p high amp Turning Lipos in series to make 10s. For your build, if you want to use a internal BMS (battery management system) to charge make sure you get the 2s1p and not the 2s2p. Charing in series with 2s2p can get complicated and may even short. However, if you plan to take out the batteries and individually balance charger them, then the 2s2p should be fine. Hope that make sense.

Hey there! Thanks for watching! I hope you'd consider subscribing to see more videos like this one. You can. However, finding one would be hard. Hi ! Great video for beginners but I hope you will put a fuse and an anti-spark system on your boards. Safety first ! ;)

Hey brotha! That is a great 👍🏽 nugget of information. My last board did include an anti spark loop key and I think the power switch has antispark qualities built in as well. But the fuse is a great suggestion. What amp fuse do you suggest for a 10s 5000mah LiPo with a 3000w 6372 motor? And also, I appreciate the comment and not ripping me up for not including that in the videos. You are kind 😊
@thomasaudinet8070
@thomasaudinet8070 6 жыл бұрын
Big Kids Hello ! A fuse is meant to protect the least robust element on the way of current. Usually it's the ESC. VESC can take continious 50A and for Focbox, it's 60A. I put my 50 or 60A fuse on the positive wire going from battery to ESC and my AS key loop on the negative one. Note : Take care with an antispark/fuse/powerswitch all in one from Vedder because I saw several people having trouble (big big sudden brutal stop) when the fuse explodes (sorry not an english native speaker and don't know the correct wording).
