Mike Beard If i bought all the parts (excluding deck) how much would that run me and what would be a cheap set up?
@MikeBeard
@MikeBeard 6 жыл бұрын
+SomeRandomUsername this set up would run you about $550 Maybe less with cheaper trucks, wheels, and vesc. A cheap set up is $300-$400 A set up that's a great value would be $500-$600 I would spend $500-$600. It makes a huge difference in quality.

honestly im a big skater the one thing i cant stand is when youtubers talk about skate board stuff and have no idea what they are talking about but you, you took the time to know some what of the stuff you were talking about and when you didn't you said that you didn't know. just saying it was nice to hear

You got this out quick! Great job my friend :) LOL, the first time I soldered was pretty scary too; had to watch a ton of videos! You got one of the most solid VESCs in the industry! Also, the trucks are actually mandatory for most types of motor mounts because of the flat spot. Regardless, not many people are doing quality esk8 videos so mad props! - Neil

It's awesome on how you break things down and make it easier to understand, especially for dumbfound people like me. You also make it easy to see how much everything costs and the links to each part in the description, little things like that to make someone's life easier just makes you that much better than other youtubers. Awesome stuff man. Getting my sub 👍.

This seems like a pretty cool project. I might try one myself because my big problem with electric skatebaords is they are long boards and not skateboards. I just want an electric board that you can do a simple Ollie on. I've skated all my life and there are always little obsticles in the way so I feel like as long as you're not trying to Ollie down stairs it could work

Don't worry about the main skateboard parts. Street skating and longboard skating are totally different. Longboarding doesn't require the durability as normal street decks need to be. All the Enertion parts should do the trick. Longboard nerds will usually get better trucks like Gullwings and sealed bearings which are much smoother. Again, minor details compared to the main parts which are the motors and the other stuff that actually makes it go. Nice video, very straight forward and easy to follow.

You spoke about the board having no flex ability at all, but one thing that i was questioning about that a lot was the shock resistance. Does the board feel rough when you ride it? How often if ever do you fall off your board? This type of thing is like the deal breaker for weather i should just start saving up for a boosted board.

Hey Mike, great video it was super helpful. It kinda pushed me over the edge of deciding whether or not to build my own board. Iv ordered about half of the components and I had a question about VESC. I ordered the same motor that you have and I was wondering if you think it would be better to purchase one of the VESCs that diy electric skateboards.com recommends or if you feel that the enertion VESC is the best option. I plan on only purchasing 2 batteries to start but eventually I'd like 3 or 4. Any advice would be great:)

+Devin Jewell So far both vescs seem to work very well. And yeah start with 2 batteries and add more when you want some more speed 😎

Did you have to program your vesc or did it come pre programmed?

Hey Mike I got a quick Q! I am debating whether to get a 190kv or 213kv turnigy motor for my board. Considering all other factors are the same (wheel size, gear reduction ratio, cell count) which motor would you prefer and why? I am aware of the inverse relationship of torque and top speed. Say I did go with the lower speed 190kv motor, would there be a considerable increase in torque and decrease in speed or would that not be noticeable at all? (maybe even through in a 245kv motor for comparisons sake) Just bouncing some thoughts of you haha

@mikebeard just use two batteries in series such as 2 5s lipos or if u wanna push it use 2 6s but 10s seems to be the Hotspot and Idk if ur charger can support that but if it does it would cut charge time and make it more simple so definitely do that if your charger supports that big of batteries. That's what I did with mine and with my charger it only takes an hour to charge them both fully. And if u want to make charging really simple get the space cell battery from enertion.

How did you mount the box that holds the vesc, batteries and receiver

Do you need 2 motors per wheel? How do you connect a battery in series with one in parallel? I have heard that batteries in series can make your board go faster vs. Parallel which offers more range. Is this true? How do you set your board up so you don't have to charge up without having to take everything apart. Basically be able to just plug in your board into the wall.

Mike, this video is so helpful and explains so many questions that I had while watching the video. However, you never say how you turn your board on and off. What is your system for that?

+ThePixelShark Im glad I could help! And you're right I never really exained that. For now I have been just unplugging the vesc when I'm not using it. Looking into power switches for the future 👍🏻

First of all great videos. U said that flex is not a good thing in a e skateboard and i agee because of the enclosure just like you said. But i wonder how the boosted board can have that much flex and do you have any idea how we can achieve that ? Thanks. Keep it up!
@MikeBeard
@MikeBeard 7 жыл бұрын
+Onur Ar boosted board achieves its flex by keeping their enclosure small and pushed all the way to one side while running cables under the grip tape with in the board 👍🏻
