It's a really nice plan. I just finished it for my wife. After years away from turning she wanted to get back into it. So I got her a new variable speed lathe and built the stand. She's excited to start! I would advise to have some scrap 3/4 ply around just in case you make a bad cut. The cutting diagram is spot on but very little room for error.

Google really placed commercials in this video poorly, but the content works great. Great design, and solid strategies for working alone with sheet goods. Good for you.

Congratulations on the new lathe. Nice work on building the stand. I made few from welding. Recommend full face mask.

Really nice design and great use of materials! I really want a lathe as well. I'd love to try turning legs like you used in your dining table project. It would take a pretty big lathe though...

When you were putting the cabinet together, I didn't see you use any glue. Are the pocket hole screws all you need here for strength, no glue?
@WoodshopDiaries4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I use glue with my pocket holes and sometimes I don’t. I haven’t had issues either way. I can’t imagine it would hurt to add some glue as well, but the screws alone are okay

Have you done a shop tour? You got a lot a shop furniture and I don't remember seeing build videos for those.

Your plans don't mention locking casters. How do you keep the stand stable without rolling away when you are turning?
@WoodshopDiaries4 жыл бұрын
I used casters with two locking and two swivel wheels

does the stand seem beefy enough,,,

I don’t use mine every day but when I do, it works fine for this size lathe.

How is this cart holding up for your lathe work? Is it heavy enough to manage the lathe vibrations? Anything you would do differently or mods you've made to the cart since?
@WoodshopDiaries3 жыл бұрын
I don’t use my lathe daily or anything, but I do here and there on occasion. So far, no complaints and it’s held up fine. I haven’t changed anything on it so far and don’t have any plans to 👍

Not to say anything negative about your work working abilities cause I love your stuff but noticed you drilled six holes in your shelf and only seen four in the installation of the shelf. Just saying ......... love your videos.
@WoodshopDiaries5 жыл бұрын
Douglas Adams thank you! There are six holes in the shelf. I drilled six holes for my six chisels and installed the same board I drilled into the stand 👍 you can drill however many holes you’d need or want though.
@WoodshopDiaries5 жыл бұрын
Douglas Adams oh wait, you’re talking about the middle shelves not the chisel shelves aren’t you? I drilled a six holes in one shelf then realized it really didn’t need that many screws so only used four of them and only drilled four in second shelf 👍
