SIMPLE AND EASY! THANKS!

Good stuff! I followed this guide and was able to save some money. These DIY ones are a much better price to size ratio. Pre made ones seemed comparable in price at first, but were way smaller. Thanks for the comprehensive guide.

Never built a cage like that before always just bought the dumor cages and use to hang them using 2 pieces of chain and some caribiner clips. Do you think that cage wire you used would be strong enough to hang instead of setting on a stand like you did?

I love how you showed how the j clip worked and said the size you made the door! Thank you.

It would be a lot easier to just cut out the wire for each individual side. Lay them all out on the floor… Then just cinch them to together with clips. Also, the cages don’t need to be so tall. That gauge wire is very expensive, so it’s certainly a cost cutting measure that could be made.

Great video! I'm looking to get started out with rabbits and this video was very helpful. One question... is there a link to a site to purchase the spring clips for the door? I have searched but cannot find ones like that with the clip and handle.

Thanks so much. I found those clips on Amazon, they weren't that expensive either. Nothing like that at any of our farm stores around here.

How much do you think this would cost to build in 2023? Do you know of a better alternative for partitioning off our colony while testing the group-behavior temperament of new does?
@HiddenSpringFarm Жыл бұрын
Well you can get a roll of rabbit fencing for less than $50 and the clips are just $5 a bag. But of all you need is a temporary divider you could use anything like plywood or the rabbit fencing with some t-posts or rebar. or you could just build a half wall with 2x2's and some hardware cloth, then just pound in some t-posts to hold it. You want to be able to remove it if it all works out. I built a huge bunny barn and rabbitat have you seen those videos? I'm sure there's a playlist. I built it with 2 stalls so I could keep the buck separate and it's working out great.

Funny I just commented in your duck house yesterday. I am doing ducks also. I have 10 chickens now only for eggs. I m going to do 30 ducks for eggs and meat. Also I want to do Rabbit, and a mini milk cow.

sounds like a great plan. A bit more self reliance that's what we're trying to do also. I did a custom duck house, custom 7 coop chicken house. Goose house and rabbitat to be done this summer. Good luck to u Neil.

Thank you for putting the floor on right side up! The second story is a good idea. That is how they do it in European countries.

Thanks. The cost of cage wire is ridiculous.

This is exactly how I made my hanging parrot flights. Easy to do & I had no help. They last forever.

that is seriously dangerous if a predator breaks into the hutch/cage it will kill the bunny it doesn’t even need to hurt it the bunny will just die of shock also rabbits need lots of space to run around and play i recommend watching lennon the bunny she has some amazing tips on how to care for a bunny and she has made my bunny boba live a amazing life he is free roamed inside

Not sure what you're referring to? I keep the cage in my barn, no predator issues. and I believe I say in the first 30 seconds of the video that I will use this as a quarantine cage only. I keep all my rabbits in a custom built Bunny Barn and Rabbitat and live a free roam life fully protected from predators. Our rabbits are fed farm fresh food with a pellet/hay supplement which I'm sure Lennon doesn't experience. I recommend you take a look at some of my videos showcasing the kind of life my rabbits live.

I still cannot understand why people can’t just do SIMPLE RESEARCH ON RABBITS!!! They do not belong in cages, especially not THAT small!! The wire is so so so bad for their poor feet. They do not have padding like cats or dogs do on their paws. They develop sores on their paws if they walk around on that wire. There is absolutely nothing fun for it to do in there, where is the hay? Where are the toys? Where is something for them to chew on? Dig in? It can’t jump around and run around in there. This should be illegal. It is straight up animal abuse. Absolutely horrible.

I agree with you 1000%. Check out the 2 stall bunny barn & rabbitat I built for our rabbit crew. They’ve had a litter in a mock burrow I built and they seem happy as can be living a free run life, protected from predators. Cages are only good to quarantine if necessary.
@Abbs_22 Жыл бұрын
exactly! it is crazy the poor bunnys.
@scottdrenth33496 ай бұрын
Maybe because people do more research than yourself. Wire is perfectly safe at the appropriate gage. Wire keeps them dry and is able to be completely disinfected. This protects bunnies from bacteria and disease. Rabbits live happily without ever developing sore hocks on 14 or 16 gage wire. The problem is with hardware cloth as he explained in this video. Also rabbits don't have pads but they have a thick layer of fur on the bottom of their feet that provides them with cushion 😊 Rabits live way longer lives in these cages than they do in the wild being at the bottom of the food chain.
