Thank you for sharing your knowledge about the pond design, and improvements ideas. Your KZbin channel is deffenetly the best one to subscribe to. What is the water temperature and how much does it change during summer/winter?
@GreenEaseСағат бұрын
We keep it below 73 in the summer and above 68.5 in the winter
@GreenEaseСағат бұрын
At our latitude, we don’t need a pawn chiller. Our source water comes in really cool so that helps Keep it cool

Wow ! I'm surprised that you do not get root rot like in over country(we are near the equator), We have to keep over system extremely clean in order to avoid root rot . Great system! thanks.
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
We definitely combat root rot. Every hydroponic system does in my opinion. We don’t have to do any treatments in the winter, but in the summer, we have to treat the water with very small amounts of hydrogen peroxide and bleach to keep the pythium killed off.

I can imagine in a tropical climate the root rot pressure would be crazy

The manifold system is brilliant. I ended up building one big pool because I couldn't figure out how to tie multiple pools together. Air lines- I built basically your manifold, but I used soaker hoses. I ran them all the way down the length of the bed, one line under each row of rafts. Do you just have air in the corner? I may have to copy your water return design. Mine all comes in at one end and flows to the other end where the intake is.
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
Yes, we just run air in one corner. It’s right where the suction is so the aerated water goes straight into the suction and out through the circulation system.
@javadhemmati6898Ай бұрын
Which method you reckon is the best for aeration, Air stone, Venturi or Nano bubble maker?
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
Speece cone is best. We will have one on the market by the end of the year. It’s the only way to go

Hey I am also a small grower in georgia and I have a similar system like yours. I learned a lot from you. Recently a buyer wanted to buy green leaf from us that has long shelf (without roots). Can you suggest which type of green leaf seed should I ustoin my system.
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
We cut the roots off of almost all our products. Speeds up processing so much and we’ve never saw an impact to shelflife. We grow Muir from Paramount Seeds.

Are you constantly pumping in fresh water from the Nutrient Tank or only circulate the existing water in the pools?
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
We add a few gallons from the nutrient tank every day. . We add 10 gallons of fresh water per hour per pond from the city water main 24/7
@randysabessar6692Ай бұрын
Does this reduce the nutrient levels?
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
@randysabessar6692 yes it does a little bit. But we just add in more and it’s totally worth it!

@@GreenEase Do you have a reservoir that catches the overflow water with nutrients? How do you add nutrients if you constantly add 10 gallons of water every hour?
@umarbadjuber25 күн бұрын
I have a hydroponic garden with a nft method and I am interested in using a deep water culture system. I have some questions related to the deep water culture system 1. When does the change of water nutrition? because the continuous planting system troubles us in replacing the nutrient water 2. Each plant, every day absorbs different minerals, which ultimately causes an imbalance of mineral nutrients. how do you get around this? 3. I want to share my experience, I've tried Nanobubbler, this tool is very helpful in many ways.
@javadhemmati6898Ай бұрын
I was curious what you do with the overflow water? Do you filter it in a closed loop or it just gets dumped? In the previous videos you mentioned you change the water every 3 weeks?!
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
We sample the water every three weeks. We’ve never changed it out The water just gets dumped. It’s probably less than 1000 gallons per day. Depends on the system this eliminates the buildup of toxins like sulfur or chlorine.

I have a dwc system here in Jamaica and so far every batch I do I get root rot
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
@onkfarms keep your system as clean as you can. By that I mean, clean it out between crops and sanitize your growing equipment, like your NFT channels are DWC rafts. Run a little bit of hydrogen peroxide and or bleach in your water to kill the pythium.
@onkfarmsАй бұрын
@@GreenEase thank you. Thanks for showing how you circulate your water.

Have you tried growing an iceberg lettuce in this system. I am curious if the board will handle the weight
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
No we haven't. We have up to 18 lbs of lettuce per raft. Does that help?
@knnaveen007Ай бұрын
@GreenEase wow. Are you able to get 18lbs with butterhead in 18hole raft
@GreenEaseАй бұрын
No. That’s green leaf Muir. Butter does not weight as much
@maximem.111721 күн бұрын
Research says that root rot is prevented by having water at 18-22 Celsius. Also improves nutrient intake. Are you water chilling the ponds in summer? Or is the temperature stable ? Thanks for your videos by the way, really helpful! 🙏🏻
@GreenEase21 күн бұрын
@maximem.1117 that absolutely helps! We don’t chill the water but some people do. I wouldn’t say that it’s prevented at those temps (for sure on the higher end) but it definitely hinders pythium growth
