get quotes, they are often free and you would be a bit surprised the savings from balloon/platform and that of post frame design in terms of material cost and that of post frame allows for easy relocation of windows or doors to that of other conventional/traditional framing mentioned

I really like how you do all the math before and measure/mark everything on the ground so that later you only do the assembly. And I really like how you go through all the boards and leave the best looking ones for the most visible parts of the project. I had a guy do a really small garden project for me recently using railway sleepers. He only had 8 of them on shorter sides and still managed to install the worst one (the know was already out) on top. And was still making excuses and wanted to charge for the new one when I pointed it out. That only shows your professionalism.

Any novices or weekend warriors watching this with the intention of building a large building, what he is saying about marking the trusses and pre drilling and all that is called lay out and it's one of the biggest things you can do to make your life easier.
@bruce-le-smith
@bruce-le-smith 6 жыл бұрын
This is a great series! Like the pre-work of marking out the lines and drilling before the install, seems very precise and scientific, and gives clients confidence of good quality. Agree that once you've got that layout done, then just lugging them up and nailing them off by hand seems like it'd be as efficient as it gets. I'll have to watch the last bit of footage a few times while drawing pictures, and the next videos, but having lots of explanation sure helps.

I could never get away with not bracing those first two walls before the third wall secures them. It would make me super nervous that they would fall down, even if they are bolted to the concrete. you gotta post sometime soon, how the floor is poured from inside a already built garage/storage/house. or if someone can link to a video on youtube cause im duiyng to know how thats gonna turn out.
@Joshua79C
@Joshua79C 6 жыл бұрын
on DiResta channel for his build it only shows very short bits of the pour process, but there are a few other that show more of the process if not the entire thing. Basically the skirt aka splash or footer board placed on the outside where the concrete will be is what defines the pour dimension and the concrete covers the columns on the three interior sides of the post at that level. From what I have seen the real pros tack a tarp to protect the interior wall from "splash" if already sheathed on the outside.

Was thinking the same. I'm in search of a solution for a solid floor for my shop build design. I'm deciding whether a concrete slab or wooden floor. I'm about to make the floor out of wood just because I can make it myself, but I'm afraid it won't be as solid as I'd need for a woodworking shop. ...

Tossing up that building is enough work, without adding the overhead of the video! Hope this channel gets you some clients. 2 cents from the peanut gallery. 1] For this type of build have you thought about helical piers? 2] I noticed during layout from the story board you were marking each board individually? Do you think you could gang them if you worked from the ridge down, then just deal with variance cut @ grade? just asking??

You may have answered this before, so if you did, please excuse me. What is your opinion of the closed cell spray foam for insulation on buildings like these? Part of me wants to be lazy and have the company spray the insulation, and the cheap part of me says the fiberglass will do the same job at about half the price. I am building my barn/garage, and using wood that I have cut on my own land. While slower, it is in my price range. My house was built in , and everything is made of oak, even the roof. No plywood anywhere, just rough sawn red oak. Actually some pegs too. The plaster has cow hair in it for a bonding agent. I guess I'm happy it wasn't built in the city, because a lot of them used asbestos in the plaster. Your videos help me a lot, and I'm very grateful for you taking the time to film these, and rdit them. I know it takes a lot of time, and I just wanted to say thank you! Smiles!
