Hi Liam and Gang. Thank you Liam for taking the time to film an extremely informative video, all at your own expense. Well done John for providing such detailed information on how a competent person could wire their garden room. I say the longer the video the better. Good luck with the Bingo Jen. Roll on Monday.

Question - if I wanted to build a slightly higher height than 2.5m and you have said dig down, should we be concerned about water ingress as it will be below the nominal ground level? Or should we dig down further out from the perimeter of the building?

Hi. Great videos. Apologies, I have watched many of your videos but can't find you referencing it anywhere on how high you make the average stud wall? Have 2.4m OSB buy it seems far too high. Is there an average height for your stud walls?

I don't know why I pay for a tv licence - this is so much better than anything on the telly! I haven't yet watched everything you have done, so you might have already covered this: Is there a way of building one of the walls close to a neighbour's brick garage wall? I am quite skinny , but I can't get into a 100mm space to fix cladding. I am thinking of fixing steel box profile cladding while flat on the floor, then swinging it up into position (with some helpers). Any thoughts on that?

Hi liam and team, great videos with plenty of content. Im a joiner with my own buisness by trade and used a lot of hints a tips off your videos im going to start my own build at home this summer im planning an L shaped build, iv never done a rubber roof but done plenty of fibre glass roofs. My question is do you think the rubber would sit flat on an L shaped build with the pitch being so minimal? Or should i fibreglass it. Thanks, iv voted for you on the most charitable buisness awards and bought tickets for the pod as i wont need a build pack with being in the trade. The 20k would come in handy tho lol.

excellent as ever, apologies if you've been asked this question 1,000 times but why don't you wire the sockets as a ring main rather than a radial circuit as it's just adding a length of wire back to the consumer unit... in the future customer could then add a spur safely... many thanks

Gonna have to watch this in two parts 😅 I doff my cap to you Liam. Your work and vids are brilliant so this is not, repeat not a dig. The reason screwing through thermal breaks was a no-no is because the old 80's, 90's thermal breaks were narrower. Meaning the screw heads bridged the outside Ali to the inside Ali. Looking forward to the great of it.

I'm confused about plug sockets. Isn't the last one support to go back to consumer unit? So it's a continuous loop? I am no electrician so might be completely wrong. I thought using 16mm twin earth in a loop would double up capacity to the equivalent of 32mm cable.

@@utensil999 spur is not a circuit type. You can spur from a radial or a ring. Although really, a radial is just one spur after another. Ring only used to save copper. Have to be careful spuring from a ring.

Hi Liam, fantastic video as always. Loads of info in there for us, so thank you. One question from me: You insert a packer for toe and healing - why doesn't anyone make a packer wide enough to go under the glass so both panels sit on it rather than hope the packer stays where it is on an angle? Have you ever had one move when the sun gets on the glass? Cheers all, thanks for the really detailed vids, really appreciate the effort you go to, so I have bought the raffle tickets and voted for you for a good night out and fingers crossed, for the win

Really wish people wouldn't try teach un skilled/qualified people how to do electrical wiring. There are so many different regulations that need to be adhered to. There was nothing about cable routes and safe zones, types and sizes of cable for the reference methods, correct testing procedures to make sure not only the wiring shows correct on a plug in tester or voltage tester but to confirm the earth loop impendence is at the correct value for safe use. As a fully qualified electrician with a governing body we are not allowed to certificate an installation unless it was installed by ourselves or we were on site checking every cable run for conformity and testing at end of first & second fix. It would of been better for you to just say that get a qualified electrician to carry out all the wiring and not shown anything apart from the finished install. I end up going out to major issues due to joe public trying their hand at electrical work and some of it is so dangerous its a wonder nobody has been killed. Rant over. Other than that I have enjoyed watching these videos as entertainment purposes but would get someone to build my garden room that has the experience like yourselves.

And on a new build housing estate, every cable is checked by the guy signing it off? We both know the answer to this. Sparks are the hierarchy of the building game, simply because they have been taught this by older gen sparks. Passive aggressive, I’m sorry, but when we did this video we knew a spark would attack. It’s not rocket science mate, if you went on our group you’d know we all get a “god” to sign it off. I swing a chain saw around on a regular basis. I refused to use it when I read the manual, every page, danger of death! I’m competent now
@RANS-ie5cf
@RANS-ie5cf Жыл бұрын
@@thegardenroomguru there is no testing carried out on new builds its just a pencil pusher in an office copying the first certificate from the show home and all results are just calculated. I have been to numerous new builds to sort faults left by the untrained guys pulling in the first fix and the separate guys second fixing. Then the guy who signs it off cant be bothered to report open rings or high reading because they will not be in below the price they allowed. All this cutting corners to save a few quid is what causes issues. Pay tye right people to do the job they are qualified in and at the price they state and all would be in a better place. But you know as well as I do that isn’t ever going to happen. End of the day I wouldn’t put my name on a certificate unless I am 100% sure it is all to spec. If anything goes wrong its the person on the certificate thats going to court or jail.
