With the introduction of the crafter in 1.21, we can now auto craft the items we sort from our farms. Today we’ll add the crafter to the timeless item sorter that @impulseSV built so many years ago.

For the last design, you could use another crafter instead of a composter. More expensive, but harder to mess up

Good call. Definitely more expensive but a great option if you have the resources.

Great design! I've been just making a separate crafter circuit, but it's so bulky. This is very compact and easily adapts to existing storage array layouts. Good stuff! I'm saving this video to my library of staple builds.

@@cubeprospector I feel like understanding a mechanism of how to have items placed into the crafter in a desired sequence is what i’m looking for. Some examples would be dyed terracotta, concrete powder, red stone components, etc.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this tutorial, thank you for explaining it in such a clear manner! I did have some questions, though. With the way you modified the item sorter, wouldn't the chests above the new modifications be useless now? From what I understand, items will always drop to the lowest point in the hopper chain, which, in this case, is the Crafter block. But from what I learned, the Crafter block will always end up spitting the crafted output onto the floor if the output container is full or the Crafter container itself is filled with ingredients. So what can we do about that? My first reaction would be to set the modification to be at the top of the item sorter setup and then chain the output chests using hoppers, but I think that would interfere with the sorting to begin with? I'm not sure, I'm still learning redstone sadly. I would love to hear your thoughts on this!
@cubeprospector
@cubeprospector 13 күн бұрын
Yes, great point. I should have explained that you will have to reconfigure the chests if you need the extra storage. Extra chests and hoppers can help if you plan on having more than one double chest. Thanks for the note.

@@cubeprospector I'm glad someone asked this as I too was wondering how the chests now collected for more than one chest. Thanks for clarifying here... hopefully you can add this into the video later?

I think I would have to have all crafting stations in one place going to the item sorters on my bulk storage.

That`s a nice design and the video is well explained. The only gripe I have with it is that the crafter never stops and if the chest is full, it will spit the items out to the side. Is there any shut off mechanism to shut the crafter off when the chest is full?
@cubeprospector
@cubeprospector 13 күн бұрын
I hadn’t thought about shutting off the crafter. I’d add additional hoppers and chests below the output chest or not run the farm.
@Zreknarf
@Zreknarf 13 күн бұрын
ideally you'd wire the "full output" signal to shut off the farm, otherwise it's going to mess up the item filters or just overflow into wherever

Great tutorials! Hoping to get some help, I'm trying the 3rd design on an iron farm and the bars are turning on the lamp when 8 are built up, and then that causes it to not craft when all nine are in. Any help would be appreciated!
@cubeprospector
@cubeprospector 11 күн бұрын
First thing to check: Once you have it all set up make sure the lamp is off before the items go in the crafter. It can get turned on during set up and then causes issues. If it’s on, get a button and turn it off. Let me know if that worked.

Question... I note every so often the light turns on for some reason, causing the crafter to simply "store" the iron instead of crafting it. Is there something I did wrong? I tried following as best I could with your instructions. (I'm using Java if this is an issue).
@cubeprospector
@cubeprospector 10 күн бұрын
hmmm… Let me see if I can recreate it. I wonder if it’s a chunk loading or chunk boarder issue.

@@cubeprospector Just went back to check where I built. I have an established iron farm and wanted to add a crafter to turn the ingots to blocks. The line of redstone for the whole thing crosses a chunk border, so you might be correct that this is the issue. I guess I'll have to just check it more often as it only seems to do this once in a while.

@@krynne I have a similar issue, my hopper chain thats sending the Iron to the sorter is slightly too fast, which means 1 extra Iron is usually in the crafter when it makes a block. Then because of the extra blocks stacking the comparator detects the right signal strength and makes, heavy weighted pressure plates and iron bars (this is while putting about 10 stacks of Iron through the system its attached to). If the Iron's coming in one at time it's fine.
@krynne

@@xiz0808 Mine is a much smaller farm, and it's on a survival multiplayer world. Only 1 golem spawns in at a time (rarely do I get 2), with the drops of ingots being the usual 4-6 average per golem (plus a poppy, which I have set up to go into a composter to be turned into boneblocks via another crafter). Oddly enough the composter/boneblock setup is working perfectly fine, with no lighting issue even though it too crosses the same chunk border line as the ingots... basically it's parallel (but not attached to) the ingot crafter. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the server itself, as when I tried on a single player world (same setup along the chunk border to test) I didn't get any issues at all. Our server has added features to allow both java and bedrock players to play, and has a few "performance" mods to help keep the lag down, but otherwise it's pretty much vanilla. I'll keep tweaking and see. Thanks for the advice, folks :)

I'm playing on a peaceful realm with friends, is there an alternative to the copper bulb? They require blaze rods, which i can't acquire 😭
@cubeprospector
@cubeprospector 23 сағат бұрын
For the first one there isn’t a great replacement, but you can get the bulbs from the trial chamber even in peaceful. You can use the second layout as a replacement for the first. For the last design you can use any of the auto crafter layouts already out there, but most are not one-wide like this one.
