Just finished building mine tonight for a 2013 JK. I have not put the top on it yet but it is really solid. The best thing overall is that it cost me about 1/3 the price of the one I was going to buy. Thanks for the video, specs, and parts list. Much appreciated!!!!

GREAT DIY video. Going to Lowes to get my supplies today. I'm doing it for a Jeep TJ but all the plans I find on the Internet seem to be for JK's but seems pretty simple and straight forward.
@RockyXTV6 жыл бұрын
It is really easy, the video actually makes it seem more complicated, I think it's the carpeting. Thanks for watching and let me know how your cart come out!
@chaosncheckt93566 жыл бұрын
Well, spent $25 at Lowes and had them cut everything for me. Got home and an hour later it's done. I picked up roll of cheap carpet while at Lowes and padded several portions of the cart - not the entire thing as you did. I have a ceiling hoist I'll use tomorrow to remove the top and store it on the cart. Sure beats spending several $100 buying one online. Question for you and it's a bit off topic, have you ever mounted ammo cans in the wheel wells as storage compartments? I just got my hands on two 40mm boxes and want to mount them this weekend.
@RockyXTV6 жыл бұрын
That is awesome that you built the cart! As for the ammo cans, I have seen it on a few rigs but have never done it myself.
@Teo915906 жыл бұрын
Did the same dimensions provided on this video work for the TJ hard top or were your cuts different?

I used the same dimensions and it worked perfectly.

Thanks so much for posting this, I just made this in about 2 hours saving myself around 175$ the only difference I made was instead of carpet I used egg crate mattress (12$ at dollar general) to provide extra protection for the glass parts... Not bad for a girl !!!

Thanks for a great video. The parts list made the shopping easy and it went together without any issues. I do have one problem though. How do you use this thing? We're new to the Jeep life and have no idea how to place the top on it. LOL. PLEASE HELP! 🙂
@RockyXTV8 жыл бұрын
Not a problem, here is a video of us taking the top off and putting it on the cart. kzbin.info/www/bejne/anmup2ifndSef7s I hope this helps you out, don't forget to subscribe to keep up on all the new videos! Only if you want to that is, thanks for watching and commenting.
@RockyXTV8 жыл бұрын
Also be very careful when lowering the top onto the cart because the back glass WILL try to fly open on you. Once you have it on the cart there is no issue with this because of the 1x3" strip towards the front of the cart. If you need any other help feel free to go into the about tab on my channel page to get my address and email me. Best of luck and welcome to the Jeep life!!!

Does the hardtop bottom rest on top of the 59" 2x4 or to the side of where the 59" and 30" 2x4 meets?
@RockyXTV8 жыл бұрын
The top will rest on the 30" boards and kinda' push up against the front 59" board, I hope that makes sense. When putting the top on this cart make sure to have an extra hand to hold the window shut because it will try it hardest to fly open on you. Once it's in place the window is fine though, that's what the 1x3 is for. I hope this answers your question, if not just let me know. Don't forget to subscribe to keep up on all my new videos, I've got plenty more where this one came from. Only if you want to that is. Thanks for watching and the question, I'm always glad to help.

But does it work? How does the top balance on it?
@RockyXTV5 жыл бұрын
I've been using this cart for years now, so have others and it works great! The top balances really well as the weight naturally goes to the back of the cart and rests on the 2 "stand-offs". Thanks for watching!
