How To Build A Mini Bike Gas Tank

I have been wanting to make this video for a while. I wanted to show you all that you can make some really cool welding projects with off the shelf parts. In this case, you can build a really cool mini bike gas tank out of some 3" exhaust tubing and railing end caps. If I had to make this again, I wouldn't have used the silicon bronze. I had a lot better results with regular ER70S-2 filler rod. Maybe with some practice, I will have better results. You can also make this design completely out of aluminum too for a few more dollars. They make all these pieces in aluminum.

Make an alignment block for that stop and it won't wiggle around so much. Nicely done.

How does the cap fit if the pipe is 3"ID but caps are 3" OD?

One thing I noticed is that “3 inch exhaust tubing” differs wildly in of sizes. I just tried a few pieces I had laying around until I found one that fit. The winner was a 3” tailpipe from Oriley auto parts

I’m gonna use an empty propane tank. One of those blue ones. Sand it down to chrome and cover it in a protective oil before I hose clamp it on. Same process just ready to use bottle.
