LOL, I saw that edge and made a mental note to make it a little oversize. It is a great look to dress up a plain mirror. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Frame should have been wider on all sides ~1/2" to hide edge of mirror.

Nice job. I wouldn't have thought about sticking it right to the mirror. I would have taken the mirror down and fit it to the frame, then figured out how to mount the whole thing. This is much simpler. Great tip. Thanks for sharing.

I have a question. How come you didn't use construction-grade glue to glue the frame to the mirror? Also, what about the mirror holders and how they stick out farther than the mirrors surface?

In doing mine, I pressed the frame against them to determine exact location. Then I used my router to insert a hole for it to fit perfectly snug against the mirror. I also used 3M Velcro strips for mine. Works way better than double sided tape.
@jw1731
@jw1731 3 жыл бұрын
When I made mine I didn’t have a router, so I marked the exact locations and figured out the depth, and drilled a few holes to take off as much material as possible, then chisel notched the rest. Made sure it sits flush against the mirror, and applied glue 2/3 of the way on the molding so the glue won’t show up in the reflection.

I learned the hard why you stain the back of the frame - you can see everything in the reflection of the mirror!

Is there anyway to build the Frame so that you’re not encroaching on the mirror? I want my frame to make my mirror a little bit bigger so it fills up the space I have in mind better.

I notice that you have four clips holding your mirror up. Mine is like that too, two top and two bottom. How is your wood sitting flush against the mirror with these clips hanging over the mirror to hold it in place? That's my biggest question when framing a mirror and I can't seem to find the answer. What did you do about the clips?
@GlassImpressions
@GlassImpressions 8 жыл бұрын
The molding has the relief cut so it would angle away from the mirror and clear the clips. Chiseling a little notch out where this sit would be perfectly okay.
